Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Video and Audio – On June 20, 1863, West Virginia was admitted into the Union as the 35th state after seceding from Virginia in 1861. Wow, how did that happen if secession were illegal? While the war of Northern Aggression was going on, West Virginia decided to practice self-determination. They didn’t like how the government was going on in Virginia so they decided to go their own way. They didn’t have to fill out any online petitions ASKING the Federal Government to recognize them, they just did it. So why can’t states, parts of states, counties, heck even cities do it now? What is standing in the way? For more on this be sure and check out today’s Founders TV and sign up for a Founders Pass if you haven’t already!
