Hey folks its Mike Church with todays Church Doctrine

The Republican wunderkid, Paul Ryan of Wisconsin has finally released his Roadmap Forward budget outline which purports to cut the federal deficit by $5 Trillion over the next decade. This may sound like a huge amount of money and the cure to our financial ills but relatively speaking this is but a 10% reduction in what will become $50 Trillion in government spending.

Mr. Ryan, to his credit has put forth a well intentioned effort which unfortunately will do nothing more than prolong the inevitable: bankruptcy.

Since this is the most radical plan being considered and because it does not address the problem which is government doing things it should leave to the marketplace and individual citizens then the counter offer must be just as radical: The United Federation of Republican States.

My proposal brings us back to Independence Hall in 1787 and proposes amendments to the Articles of Confederation while opening up membership to any state that declares their independence anew. This is needed because Congress has now declared its independence from reality.

The UFRS will only empower the General Government to meet and propose legislation that must then be sent to the states for ratification. Acts will only become Supreme Law of the federation when ratified by unanimous vote yet a simple majority can overturn an Act in the bi-annual council of revision.

While I am certain my plan will be greeted with laughter in some cases and cries of sedition in others, I am equally certain it has just as good a chance of delivering republican goals as the current federal government has of delivering bankruptcy. Which will you choose?
