Mike: Here is the headline from the Washington Examiner newspaper, “Before debate, Clinton works refs, asks for special treatment.” Crooked Hillary is now asking the debate moderator for special treatment. Her surrogates are out there today droning on endlessly about, [mocking] “Donald Trump cannot be allowed to be graded on a curve.” Because he’s an idiot, right? Because Trumpzilla is the most dumb guy that ever stepped foot on a stage. So because he’s so dumb and so not educated as Mrs. Clinton is, he’s disarmed criticism in advance. Clinton’s surrogates are out there promoting this idiot Donald Trump that [mocking] “He can’t be allowed to be graded on a curve. We all know that Mrs. Clinton knows the issues, and we all know that he doesn’t.” So Mrs. Clinton knows the issues but Trump doesn’t know the issue and Trump lies. Mrs. Clinton doesn’t lie. She is pristine as wind-driven snow that we’re about to see across the amber waves of fuel as fall deepens. Here’s the story:

For several days, Democrats and their supporters in the press have demanded that presidential debate moderator Lester Holt factcheck Donald Trump in Monday night’s showdown at Hofstra University. [Mike: This means that the rubes out there, you people, you peasants that are going to watch this, you may be misled by one of Trump’s whoppers, if he tells one. And you’re so devoid of a yearning for the truth that you won’t bother to fact check Trumpzilla yourself. That’s what that means.] Those demands turned to pleading Sunday when Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” asked for special treatment for Clinton in the event that Trump tells lies from the debate stage.
“All that we’re asking is that, if Donald Trump lies, that it’s pointed out,” Mook said. “It’s unfair to ask for Hillary both to play traffic cop while with Trump, make sure that his lies are corrected, and also to present her vision for what she wants to do for the American people.”

“But isn’t that what a debate is supposed to do?” asked host George Stephanopoulos. [Mike: A former Clintonista, and by all accounts is a current Clintonista.]
“Well, I think Donald Trump’s special,” Mook said. “We haven’t seen anything like this…

Mike: Can you believe this? The most erudite, the most learned, the most gifted politician, the woman who’s going to lead us all to nirvana and heaven and paradise can’t go toe to toe with a man, can’t go toe to toe with a virile, vigorous, and potent man, as G. Gordon Liddy used to say at the start of his radio show. So Hillary’s got to be given a crutch. Are you kidding me? What’s next? Does Hillary get to take bathroom breaks? They already tried to float that one out there. The debate commission said no. If he’s got to stand on the stage for 90 minutes, you’ve got to stand on the stage for 90 minutes.

“So we’re saying this is a special circumstance, [Mike: Now she’s special.] a special debate, and Hillary should be given some time to actually talk about what she wants to do to make a difference in people’s lives. She shouldn’t have to spend the whole debate correcting the record.” [Mike: In other words, Trump’s going to get on there and he’s going to lie. And Mrs. Clinton, poor, defenseless waif that she is now, is going to have to spend all her time correcting Trumpzilla’s inaccuracies.]
Other Clinton officials made a similar case in the days leading up to the debate. On Friday, Team Clinton held a conference call for reporters, urging Holt to factcheck Trump on the fly. “This is the role of the moderator…to call out those lies, and do it in real time,” [Mike: What about Hillary’s lies? Are you going to ask her about the email? Is she going to tell the truth? How come every time we learn something new about the email scandal it makes irrelevant the previous lie or the previous narrative that we learned? What do you call that?] top campaign official Jennifer Palmieri said. “To not do that is to give Donald Trump a very unfair advantage.”

Mike: Folks, they expect to lose tonight. The Clintonistas actually expect Trump to win. I never watched, maybe some of you did, but I never watched The Apprentice. I never saw the show. I’m like most of you. The extent of my watching of The Apprentice television show has been “You’re fired!” That’s it. I know the line. I saw the trailers for the show, but I never actually watched the show.
I told you people this one year ago, back in 2015. These clowns agree to this dream candidate list in the history of dream candidate lists for the frauds that call them conservatives that are Republicans these days, this dream lineup of candidates that was going to produce the most constitutional conservative in American history, led by Ted Cruz. I told you guys and gals, you don’t know what you’re dealing with here, because you’re dealing with someone who is actually a television star. Because he’s been around that camera, he’s not afraid of it. Because he’s been around that camera and he’s probably watched his own tapes, he knows how to work the camera. He knows how to carry himself. He knows how to hem, he knows how to haw in order to make a point. You, you wannabe television – you know what politics is? It’s television for ugly people. Still a pretty good adage.
We’ll see this on display tonight when Mrs. Clinton waddles out onto the stage. Did you know, by the way, that the most strong, erudite, greatest leader in the history of feminine leaders, Mrs. Clinton, as Kevin Gutzman calls her, Evita – [mocking] “Mike, she’s Evita. She’s done absolutely nothing.” She’s Evita without being attractive. When Mrs. Clinton waddles out onto the stage tonight, did you know that they gave her an actual soapbox to stand on so she won’t look so diminutive? He’s 6’2”; she’s 5’4”.

And what kind of lies should Holt factcheck? In its email announcing the conference call, the Clinton campaign provided a handy list of “Trump’s Seven Deadly Lies.” Number one on the list was the Trump claim that seems to anger Democrats most — that he opposed the war in Iraq.

Mike: I wrote about this in today’s Pile of Prep. Why is it so important that Trumpzilla be able to say that he opposed the Iraq War? Do you know why? Because the majority of people now oppose the Iraq War. The only people that still approve of it are those lethally-induced and lethally-inspired madmen that call themselves neocons or conservative Republicans, the warmongers, the war hawks, the boosters and promoters of the military-industrial complex.

It would not be a surprise to hear Trump repeat that claim at Hofstra. But a factcheck might not lead to the cathartic, true-false, black-white “You lie!” moment Democrats would like. Sometimes facts yield a murky picture, and that’s the story with Trump and Iraq.

Mike: Mrs. Clinton’s claim, and the Clinton campaign claim, is that – when Howard Stern asked Trumpzilla back in 2002 a question about the Iraq War at the time, Trump said “I suppose so.” This then is conclusive proof that Trump was all in for the war. Wait a minute. We do know that Mrs. Clinton was all in for the war because she voted for it. What was her lame excuse? She voted for the troop surge. What was her lame excuse in 2008 when Obama hit it with her? [mocking] “If I knew today what I didn’t know then, I’d oppose the Iraq War.” Wait a minute. You’re supposed to be the most gifted, smartest, greatest policy wonk in the history of female policy wonks. Why didn’t you know back in 2002 and 2003, Hillary?
Then York walks you through the entire controversy and then the public statements that Trump made about what a disaster and what a mess the war was. Folks, let’s just consider this for just a moment here as fellow noninterventionists, which most of you are, Christian / Catholic promoters of just war, defenders of just war. Let’s just consider this for a moment. For over a decade now – I will admit, I couldn’t cleanse the public record of this. I will admit, I have to admit, I was a promoter and defender of the decepticon war in Iraq, promoter and defender of the troop surge. I got religion in 2008 and have now apologized on many, many occasions. I’ll apologize again.

My loudmouth, ill-informed, juvenile, jingoistic support for the Iraq war was a tragic, horrid mistake. I don’t want to see my children make the same mistake, or anyone else’s children make the same mistake. I certainly don’t want any of them to have to be enlisted in another tragic mistake like it. It’s important to raise our voices as loud as we can, to continue reminding people that the Iraq War was a deadly, lethal, horribly destructive, not-necessary war. We’re still paying for it. You know the suicide rate – 22 of our boys per day, young men, take their lives by the rate of 22 that are in post-military service. Why? Because they learn what they’ve done when they come back and then they have to confront it.
I made this argument, and we talked about this last week here on this show. If we were going to watch a debate tonight and you and I were going to watch a debate over who was going to be the next federal leader of the Republic of Texas, that would be exciting. That’s not what’s going to happen tonight. Or who was going to be the leader of the Louisiana Independence Party and was going to lead Louisiana to independence. Who was going to debate tonight over the new ecclesiastically-ordered constitution that was going to be sent to the counties for ratification. That would be a great debate and a worthy debate. It would be something that we would be excited about from the point of view of knowing that we’ve gotten the order correct again. We don’t have the order correct and that’s not going to be debated tonight.

However, it must be noted that the nonintervention point of view that was promoted so vigorously by candidate Ron Paul in 2008 and 2012 has rallied a clear majority of Americans. Americans are not nearly as jingoistic for the Iraq War or for any other hell-forsaken war like it as they once were. Why? Because they’re tired of it. There was a great story – I had this in the Pile of Prep last Thursday, from the American Conservative website. He had written that he – he wrote a letter to – I know what it was. He wrote a letter to his daughter. In the letter to his daughter, he apologized that this country, that she would never know an America without war. The never-ending war against terrorism, that it would never end in her adult lifetime if members of our generation didn’t end it. He apologized that she will be stuck with the debt, she will be stuck with the taxes, she will be stuck with the erosion of freedom and liberty.
