Mandeville, LA – Mike Church‘s daily Pile of Prep, Welcome to mikechurch.com 2015 Edition. We begin the year addressing the age old questions for modern Americans; Why is our culture on such a collision course with perdition which has poisoned the rest of our affairs including politics. What can Christian men do about it? Read along with Mike’s historical viewpoint to help make sense of it all plus other [r]epublican stories used to perform the Mike Church Show on Sirius/XM Patriot channel 125. “The Constitution is primarily a structural and procedural document, specifying who is to exercise what powers and how. It is a body of law, designed to govern, not the people, but government itself; and it is written in language intelligible to all, that all might know whether it is being obeyed. The alternative, teleocratic view, is one that has come into fashion the last few decades and has all but destroyed the original Constitution. This is the notion that the design of the Constitution was to achieve a certain kind of society, one based upon abstract principles of natural rights or justice or equality or democracy or all of the above. It holds that the specific provisions of the document are of secondary importance or none at all; what counts are the “principles” it supposedly embodies, usually principles based upon the Declaration of Independence or Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, neither of which has any standing in the law. – Forrest McDonald, introduction to Original Intentions, quoted at Nomocracy in Politics

FROM NOMOCRACY IN POLITICS: Start your New Years reading with Allen Mendenhall’s essential essay on the differences between a Nomocratic and a Teleocratic constitution. I used lower case for constitution because Mendenhall’s subject, nomocracy, will apply to nearly any constitution written by men for the governance of men…

Then follow the footnotes and dive into Kevin Gutzman’s review of a book that sits on my shelf “Original Intentions of the Constitution of The United States” by one of my favorite authors, the late M.E. Bradford

Viva [r]epublicans! Our old friend Rep. Louie Gohmert has decided to run for the office of Speaker of the House of Representin’ against Speaker Boehner. We’ll see if the DeceptiCON Caucus has the votes to secure their $3.8 trillion booty

Viva [r]epublicans II: Louie Gohmert for Speaker website, I wonder if Speaker Boehner is crying over it

jesus-cleansing-the-templeI recently listened to a Priest call, from the pulpit, for men to start being Men again and to call out the deluge of heresy and apostasy we are surrounded by for what they are. Let’s start with the apostasy if not outright blasphemy on display at the Daily Kos via Leslie Salzillo. Ms. Sazillo (I mean the Ms. in the Betty Friedan sense of the word) calls on Pope Francis to abandon the unborn, sanctify “reproductive rights” and then finish this heresy trifecta with an endorsement of homosexuals who by definition cannot procreate (so why would they need reproductive rights?). I pray that the calumny she has heaped on Cardinal Burke inspires his fidelity to the “archaic” teachings of Christ, embodied in the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.

Fr. John Hardon’s essay on St Augustine being a role model for the recovery of our virtue and modesty is a great place to start reading in 2015

DeceptiCONNED: Get ready for Hucakbee 2.0 as the GOP lines up it’s Usual Suspect lineup of “conservatives” to pontificate on GOP debate stages and fill the hearts of “conservatives” with hopes of Reagan 2.0. This is the WORST thing that can happen to the “conservative movement” perhaps giving us yet another reason to ditch the term in favor of [r]epublican & c.

Jack Hunter wonders if “conservatives” will ever drop their dogmatic opposition to the things believed and then said by black Americans? If “conservatives” were the “Christians” they claim to be then we would have seen public exhortations that racism is sinful and the humble thing to do is accept what black’s say at face value and evangelize to turn them to the Christian point of view

The decline of our civilization can be seen in so many ways including. ” The more useful barometer of the life expectancy of any civilization is the degree to which the populace at large is willing to accept insolent, insulting, bare-faced falsehoods in their midst without umbrage and without objection.” So saith atheist turned Catholic sci-fi author John C Wright at One Peter Five

Gal Queda at the Catholic altar: The damage done to religious vocations and the especially the priesthood by the “advent of altar girls” is deconstructed with statistics. To those who claim “women are second citizens” in Holy Mother Church I reply: you must not know of the Manly devotion so many carry to the Blessed Virgin Mary, what higher honor and station can a woman hold than “Salve Regina!” or “Hail, Holy Queen!”

Read Mike’s essay on New Years Resolutions and avoid making the mistake of resolving to commit the deadly sins of Pride, Lust and Vanity which most resolutions require.

The irreligious Rhode Island Constitution DOES NOT protect R.I. Catholics from forced apostasy: A Pair of Providence R.I. firefighters who tried to refuse their official participation in a 2001 “Pride parade” lose in the R.I. Supreme Court, using the R.I. Constitution…improperly.

What Does the R.I. Constitution say about religious liberty?

§ 3. Freedom of religion   Whereas Almighty God hath created the mind free; and all attempts to influence it by temporal punishments or burdens, or by civil incapacitations, tend to beget habits of hypocrisy and meanness; and whereas a principal object of our venerable ancestors, in their migration to this country and their settlement of this state, was, as they expressed it, to hold forth a lively experiment that a flourishing civil state may stand and be best maintained with full liberty in religious concernments; we, therefore, declare that no person shall be compelled to frequent or to support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatever, except in fulfillment of such person’s voluntary contract; nor enforced, restrained, molested, or burdened in body or goods; nor disqualified from holding any office; nor otherwise suffer on account of such person’s religious belief; and that every person shall be free to worship God according to the dictates of such person’s conscience, and to profess and by argument to maintain such person’s opinion in matters of religion; and that the same shall in no wise diminish, enlarge, or affect the civil capacity of any person.”

DeceptiCONNED: We begin 2015 with the ascendant DeceptiCONS, spilling trillions of wasted pixels and a few gallons of printing ink to make the lousy, deadly, arrogant case that the U.S. is not “good” unless it “polices the world…using broken windows theory”

TIC: Is history only relevant to this age if it comports with OUR understanding of things or is The Truth, as it occurred in any generation, to be valued as True in EVERY generation? Fr. Dwight Longenecker explains that it is the latter that makes True History and its study possible

No offense to Eminem (he is cited as a cause for the Court’s review) but since when does the SCOTUS get to decide what is “offensive” in Social Media? Where do we find THAT power in the Constitution?

Now that Christendom has perished it must be buried as Christ was buried but that doesn’t mean that A future Christendom is not possible and that we should live everyday as though it is indeed happening among the Church militant
