The State Will Do What The State Wants To Do

Background

Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – As I have been saying, those that are being pilloried for their promise to filibuster this, in my humble, constitutional opinion, are in the correct.  They are trying to prevent damage to the federal constitution, what little shreds of it remain, not that I think it’s going to make a difference, but it is admirable to see some devotion to principle, is it not?  Check out today’s transcript for the rest…

Mike:  “California Tax Bill Seeks to Punish Scouts for Gay Ban.”

[reading]

California lawmakers are considering taking some tax exemptions away from youth groups that do not accept gay, transgender or atheist members — a move intended to pressure the Boy Scouts of America to lift its ban on gay Scouts and troop leaders.

Mike:  Transgendered Boy Scouts?  How long before there will be transgender Cub Scouts?  How does a seven-year-old ascertain that they are not a theist, meaning they are an atheist?  I’m just curious.  Should the State of California be promoting any of this?  Then again, we get into the discussion of: Exactly why are there two segments of tax code, one for those seeking profit and one for those not seeking profit?  In order to maintain your non-profit status, you then have to jump when the government says jump.  You then must vault through hoops of flaming fire when the government says to vault through hoops of flaming fire. Wouldn’t it be better either A, to have no income tax code so that none of this would happen and you would just have you people, me, us, we exchanging our hard-earned money for goods and services, and we would choose then by virtue of where we spend our money who would survive and who would not regardless of what the State of California, the State of Louisiana or the federal Congress or judges in the federal judiciary might have to say about it?  It’s always made sense to me.

america-secede-or-die-t-shirtThen we have this other ongoing story, and I suppose this will be big tomorrow, if the vote is going to happen.  Harry Reid is threatening — we have a digital media file with Harry Reid saying, [mocking] “There’s gonna be a vote.  We will have a vote.  There’s gonna be a vote.  We’re coming to get those guns whether you like it or not.”

[start clip]

Senator Harry Reid: We need to move to this legislation, I’ve said for weeks. We have amendments offered. Let cards fall where they may. I also alert everyone, if they don’t invoke cloture, help me invoke cloture on this bill, we’re going to vote on these things anyway. It’ll take a little bit of time, but as I’ve said for months now, the American people deserve a vote on background checks, on federal trafficking, on safety in schools, on the size of clips, and, yes, assault weapons, and, of course, mental health.

Mike:  The people of Colorado have already gotten a vote.  The people in Connecticut have already gotten a vote.  There are going to be other votes scheduled.  What if Congress does nothing?  If you want to do this in your state, then you vote on it.  The American people deserve a vote.  There’s a headline in the New York Times today, an editorial headline, “The American People Demand Background Checks.”  Do the people get everything in their squalid hissy fits that they demand?  [mocking] “Well, if the people demand it, they ought to get it.”  Really?  Is there anything else they would like to end by fiat?  I seem to recall that the people demanded that they didn’t want Obamacare but they got that.  I seem to recall that the people demanded they didn’t want the TARP bailout but they got that.  Isn’t it just a bit fascinating, or should I say convenient, that when it suits them, when it suits our almighty federal overlords, things you don’t want — [mocking] “Citizen, you need to obey your federal overlord.  We know what’s best for you, citizen.”  When it’s citizen our here talking who doesn’t have the electronically-activated echo box, it’s just [mocking] “Excuse me, Mitter Boehner, can we not have a vote on Obamacare.  We don’t like Obamacare.  Can we not vote on it?” — “You, silence.  You’ll speak when spoken to and not before.”  But when the American sheeple want something, they always get it.  How convenient.

Harry Reid is saying there’s going to be a vote on this.  As I have been saying, those that are being pilloried for their promise to filibuster this, in my humble, constitutional opinion, are in the correct.  They are trying to prevent damage to the federal constitution, what little shreds of it remain, not that I think it’s going to make a difference, but it is admirable to see some devotion to principle, is it not?  It’s admirable some desire to protect and defend and actually honor your oath of office.  Once every four or five decades when it happens, we should acknowledge this and elevate it with our strongest and most passionate voices.
