What To Do When you’re As “Fit As An Old Fiddle” – Read this essay by Barbara Ehrenreich. You’ll laugh, you may cry but you will also be forced to think about the myriad of “testings” we are all told must be a part of our modern lives…so we can all stay “healthy”, you see. Bollocks. Ehrenreich is through with the testings…all of the testings and explains her decision in a witty, succinct manner: she has accomplished the age regarded as “old enough to die”. Here is a nugget from Barbara.

“In the health-conscious mind-set that has prevailed among the world’s affluent people for about four decades now, health is indistinguishable from virtue, tasty foods are “sinfully delicious,” while healthful foods may taste good enough to be advertised as “guilt-free.” Those seeking to compensate for a lapse undertake punitive measures like fasts, purges, or diets composed of different juices carefully sequenced throughout the day.” [Emphasis mine, Ed. M.C.]

You could say that Ehrenreich is accepting God’s plan for her, the natural order and rejects the vocation of being perpetually medicated. How many of us have the opportunity to do the same thing and have instead accepted that medical and dental advice must be heeded lest we lose a place at the iHOP’S Aging Beautifully pancake dinner?

Play Some of That old-Time, Spirit of ’76 For Me! –  The Legislature of South Carolina is picking up a bill that calls for the state to secede from the United States if ‘Muricah tries to come in the state and “confiscate legal guns”. Add to this Jesse Kelly’s call for ‘Muricah to “divorce before things get dangerous”. Kelly’s call is basically the same one I have made and one that has been made by my friend Professor Donald Livingston in “Rethinking The American Union For the 21st Century”. Kelly’s reasoning is Protestant at its core and underscores that part of the problem but its worth discussing:

“Anyone who thinks this is a radical idea has an extremely narrow view of history. If you don’t believe me, go try to book a plane ticket to Czechoslovakia, or look at a map of Europe from the year 1600, then look at one today. See any differences? Borders move. Countries split and change hands. They do this for a myriad of reasons. Ours would be a major cultural shift toward the left and half the country refusing to go along with tyranny.”

What if some refuse to go along with the tyrannical revolt against The Authority and its enforcement institution here on earth?

How Men Became Fish And Fell For “Click-Bait” – Telly Davidson is having a ball pointing out the outrage that Kevin D. Williamson was hired b y The Atlantic. not that he was fired for his pro-life writings/ramblings.

“But save your biggest brickbats for the laziness, decadence, and arrogance of a “publishing” industry that has deliberately forgotten how to turn talented unknowns into stars—a system for whom the only way out of obscurity is to be air-quote “outrageous” enough to separate yourself from the pack and bait those all-important clicks.”

Davidson has some similarly spiked things to say about our favorite cable news outlet.

“Save your most vituperative vitriol for a media ecosystem that thinks being “fair and balanced” means having Richard Spencer at five o’clock and the Chapo boys at six o’clock…Most of them are, like our young commenter noted, reduced to what their cable TV/YouTube appearances demand—doing highly paid ideological shtick where you know what the issues and answers will be before they even open their mouths.”

The same can be said for the vocation that is radio broadcasting but I’ve made this point for 10 years now: where is the bench to develop the talent needed to be the next Paul Harvey or Larry King? “Humanitarian Concerns Do Not Authorize ‘Muricah Going To War – The insanity of  ‘Murican saber rattling at every “humanitarian crisis” across the globe continues under President Trump and appears to be growing more frequent. The latest “we must do something” snit-fit is of course tied to the alleged “gassing of his own people” by Syrian President Bashar al Assad. President Trump said yesterday that “it can’t be allowed to happen” and will render an action decision in a few days. Really!? Under WHAT authority and for WHAT purpose!? Daniel Larison explains.

“There is no international mandate for military action against Syria, and there is no vital American interest at stake that might conceivably justify an attack. That said, in the absence of concerted resistance from Congress and the public, he will be able to get away with this illegal attack just as he got away with the illegal attack he ordered last year.”

In what kind of foggy madness does the United States “get away with” these atrocities that are obvious acts of war? Pat Buchanan concurs with me and Larison: Has The War Party Hooked Trump?

“Now, either Trump launches an attack that could drag us deeper into a seven-year civil war from which he promised to extricate us last week, or Trump is mocked as being a man of bluster and bluff. For Trump Sunday accused Barack Obama of being a weakling for failing to strike Syria after an earlier chemical attack. “If President Obama had crossed his stated Red Line In The Sand,” Trump tweeted, “the Syrian disaster would have ended long ago! Animal Assad would have been history!”

I have video from Trump on August 16th, 2016 saying “the day I am elected President, the era of nation building will come to a swift close”. That promise amounts to more, #MAGA promises thrown up like so much dust in the wind. Those of us outside the war-machine bubble are becoming like The Vendee of the French revolution. How long before we must lift our voices and deeds against this wretched, sinful bellicosity.

The Show Me State Roars: “Where’s The Beef!?” – Kudos to the MO legislature for trying to strike a blow for ranchers, communities and  people who like a good, REAL, hamburger. HB2607 would outlaw the GMO’ers from selling lab-grown “meat products” and labeling them as “meat”. From The Intercept:

The Missouri Cattlemen’s Association supports HB 2607. MCA member Andy McCorkill testified in favor of the legislation before Missouri’s House Agriculture Policy Committee last month, citing the threat from lab-grown meat.

“The bill simply prohibits misrepresenting a product as meat that is not derived from harvested production livestock or poultry. That’s the entire bill. It ensures the integrity of the meat supply here in the state,” said McCorkill. “There are multimillion-dollar investments occurring in companies that are close to mass-producing laboratory-grown hamburgers and other products.”

Remember Clara Peller’s famous “where’s the beef!?” TV commercials? Missouri is making Clara Peller real again.

Will You Go transgenderMammy™ Or Will You Go “Chick”? – I was wondering when the members of Gal Queda would throw their shoulder pads and discarded cast-iron skillets into the transgenderMammy™ zeitgeist and say “enough! girls are girls because they are NOT boys!”. Well now it has finally started to happen.

I disagree with these women with every fiber of my being on issues like reproductive rights and marriage equality. Note that if there were no “feminism” then sex itself never would not have become the issue that it is and thus the revolt may have been contained at hating God’s religious authority and His Church. I would love to ask this “feminist” under what authority she proposes to “fight back” against the diabolically driven gender madness we are surrounded by today and what will become of the victims’ souls it has already laid claim to?

He’s Mack Sadiq The Knife – I haven’t read The Onion newspaper in quite  a while, mainly because the current news cycle has plenty of unbelievable stories in it that make you say “this has to be a joke”. Now along comes the mayor of London with just such a story: let’s stop “knife violence” in London by “cracking down on knives”. Yep, you read that correctly and it is all too real.

Who Dares Datamine The Great And Powerful Woz!? – I have always liked Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, mainly because he never takes himself or the mad world we live in too seriously. Well, Woz has taken seriously the threat to privacy and perhaps humanity itself that Facebook has become. But Woz is just making common sense of the situation.

“Users provide every detail of their life to Facebook and … Facebook makes a lot of advertising money off this,” he said in an email. “The profits are all based on the user’s info, but the users get none of the profits back.” Wozniak said he’d rather pay for Facebook than have his personal information exploited for advertising.

It’s hard to imagine a more crooked business “model” than the one described above yet that is precisely what Facebook and Google do: mine the info we, all too foolishly give them, for profit.

The Swamp Thing Cometh – Membah…membah! the Trump campaign slogan to “drain the swamp”? That often repeated bulwark of the #MAGA campaign that insures flag waving, second amendment perverting voters that “the bad guys” in Washington will be kicked out and treated like Orcs from Deep Ellum; to be replaced by the whiter-haired Elfen folk who will ride in make government work for the #MAGA people. The promise was powerful, now the only power it has left is the power to stink up the 100 miles square with an INCREASE in the Orcs, led by our new War Emperor John Bombin’ Bolton. The swamp hasn’t been drained and Bolton is the Swamp Thing. Paul Gottfried is not amused.

“One also has to wonder about the gullibility of the average, self-identified conservative who happily accepts that the president is fumigating Washington by embracing Bolton. Is this how these militants understood the phrase “draining the swamp” when they went out to campaign for Trump?”

Paul, they never understood the phrase, all they did was bounce from one movement, the Tea Party, to the #MAGA movement. Why? Flags, flag waving and war baby.

DeceptiCONNED: How “Pro-Life Voting” Has INCREASED The Harvest of Aborted Baby Parts – Terry Jeffrey’s has a shocking report out at townhall.com detailing how the “pro-life” GOP has actually systematically passed INCREASES in Federal funds for “fetal tissue research” which should be known by what it is: research done because of the abundance of dead baby parts available via abortions. I always maintain that it was and is a mistake to act as though the GOP and your voting for it is the answer to ‘Muricah’s abortion and contraception holocaust, Jeffrey’s research proves me correct.

• In fiscal 2016 and 2017 — with Republicans controlling both houses of Congress — it climbed to successive records of $103 million and $107 million.
• This year — with Republicans controlling the House, Senate and White House — the NIH estimates it will spend $81 million on fetal tissue research.
• That would be less than the last two years, but more than the $79 million the NIH spent on human fetal tissue research in 2010, when Obama governed with a Democratic House and Senate.

So “voting, hoping and coping” is not saving baby’s lives; it is not reversing the macabre mountain of murdered baby parts being harvested for “research” and it is certainly not rolling back the abortion industry into the hellfire pit it should be contained in. What recourse is left? The CRUSADER Knights of The Holy Rosary and our appeal to the Immaculate Heart of Mary to intervene. What Is This Hell You Speak Of? – The revolving circus that is the pontificate of His Holiness Pope Francis has now taken a turn that SNL writers couldn’t have scripted: he has stated that “there is no Hell”. While thye Vatican dismisses the report as fabricated, there is an army of fake mercedarians out there repeating the canard from the rooftops.

It Is Time To Ditch Social Media From The Big 3 – Robert Tracinski wonders if Social Media was a mistake (but of course!). “We posted on our own sites. We had good discussions in our own comment fields, which we moderated. I had and still have an extensive e-mail list of readers who are interested in my work, most of which I built up in that period, before everybody moved onto social media. But then Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube came along and killed the blogs. The Religion That ‘Murican Politics Has Become – When Donald Trump as President, shows up at a rally to commemorate or promote something, the event takes on a religious tone; think about it. Before the President – the priest – enters the temple – the speaking stage – prayers are recited in unison – the Pledge of Allegiance – then an opening canticle is chanted – the National Anthem – then the priest makes his procession to the altar – the dais with the holy crest of the office of the President – then the priest begins “the mass” – making the political pronouncement and explaining why it is good for the congregation. When “the mass” is finished, the choir strikes up a driving beat of a “patriotic song” which serves as the post communion hymn and then the congregation takes leave to go and evangelize the gospel they just took in to unwashed masses – let the conversions begin! Michael Davis writes of this and makes the proper conclusion: All Politics Is Religion.

Armed with my description of a ‘Murican “Conservative Church” service, next time you see this transpire on Fox News and the propagandists for the faith wait breathlessly for the priest to arrive and mass begin, see if my description above is correct and if it is, know then what the takeaway is: The Faith has been replaced in most ‘Murican’s daily lives by the faith (sans caps intentional) in ‘Murica.
