Into the Nexus: What Do We Need With An Internet Sales Tax? ClintStroman
Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Video and Audio – Many people would like to know HOW they’re going to get us to submit to the internet sales tax… enter the Nexus. Nexus is a Supreme Court decision from 1992 that says that if a business isn’t located within it’s borders it still has a presence within that state. For instance, Chili’s corporate headquarters is in Texas, but there are chains all over the nation. So obviously the chains in Texas are under Texas state tax law, but what about the franchise’s in other states. Now, let’s IMAGINE that Chili’s is selling food online, because they have a location in Oklahoma, you would still get taxed for ordering the food because they have a presence (Nexus) in Oklahoma.
