Mandeville, LA – The following screed arrived almost on cue as I had theorized it would take the more prolific with the pen fans of Mark Levin at least 30-45 minutes to vent their anger my and Kevin Gutzman’s way.
I will post as many of these as I receive here and also post my response. Note this does little to advance any cause other than the sale of “Liberty Amendment” books which the writer most earnestly wishes me to do. Maybe Church/Gutzman supporters can encourage the Levinninites to purchase “What Lincoln Killed” and “The Spirit of ’76”?

I was listening this morning to you and Dr Gutzman this morning and the characterization of Mark Levin and the Liberty Amendments and the process of an Article 5 convention of the States Legislatures for the purpose of proposing amendments to the Constitution.
Your mischaracterization of his book and proposal was rather over the top and do hope you invite him onto your show to defend what you so roundly accused him of having off the wall ideas.
Mark Levin has not proposed a run-a-way convention process. If you read the book and listened to his proposal (and one which he admitted he was not in favor of back in the day) you would know that the process would have state legislatures approve a body of delegates, grant them specific authority in what they can and can’t do, and have a structured process to propose changes to the Constitution for vote and ratification (should that process play completely out).
You also failed to mention why his book was written (and that it is a run-a-way best seller) in the first place. That the current Federal leviathan, as you like to call Mordor on the Potomac, is completely out of control, both legislatively and in the executive branch. And we all know that Congress is not going to change anything on their own. So with much introspective and research, Mark Levin came up with his thoughts on how to correct the ship and put American back on a track of Constitutional little “r” republicanism.
Calling Mark Levin a wack-a-doodle is condescending and unprofessional. You know that he worked in the Reagan Administration, is the founder of the Heritage Foundation and had argued cases before the Supreme Court and is involved in ongoing litigation as well. Instead of having pissing contest among two groups that have pretty much the same goal, why not have a civilized discussion with said parties and get this Article 5 ball really rolling. Attacking Mark Levin and behaving like the Republican Establishment is not going to advance the cause of liberty and re-establishing little “r” republicanism, which is what we all really want.

Dear Peter,
I never called Levin a “wack-a-doodle” nor did I use any other name other than “Mr. Levin” or “Mark Levin.” Perhaps you should do some reading of your own and see if you can find “over the top” statements about Levin in my written work on the subject, start here: “James Madison to Nullify Deniers, Come See My Movie “I, Nullifier” and “Comapcts Aren’t Just For Purses Anymore-The Constitution As A Compact.” searching my site or Facebook page will reveal other posts, all similarly respectful to Mr. Levin.
Also, while you “research” this material, see if you can ascertain who began the name calling. Please do not limit your search to 2013-14 as the insults began shortly after Kevin & I convened an Article V Amendment Convention Symposium on 09 April, 2010 at the SiriusXM studios in Washington, DC; after which I was called a “moon bat”,”back bencher”,”hack” and “imbecile”. I challenge you to produce a sentence, just 1 in which I use similar language to describe or refer to Mr. Levin, just 1.
I do not need to read Mr. Levin’s book on the subject of Article V because I have read the act that created and ratified it – The Federal Convention of 1787 and the various star ratifying conventions. While you’re chastising me to educate myself I suggest you do the same, the first organized use of Article V came from the Virginia Assembly of 17888. Patrick Henry led that effort, I have a documentary “The Spirit of ’76 The Story Continues” on the matter and edited the 1887 work of Moses Coit Tyler in re-publishing “Patrick Henry-American Statesman”.
I suspect that Professor Gutzman will respond to you separately and I look forward to the results of your fact finding mission, though I doubt the results will enhance the case you stated herein.
Cheers,
Mike Church
