Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript –“Citing the hundreds of thousands of satellite television dishes in Iran, Benjamin Netanyahu told the House Government Reform Committee that the United States could incite a revolution against the conservative Iranian clergy through the use of such Fox Broadcasting staples as “Melrose Place” and “Beverly Hill 90210” — both of which feature beautiful young people in varying states of undress, living, glamorous, materialistic lives and engaging in promiscuous sex. ‘This is pretty subversive stuff,” Netanyahu told the committee. “The kids of Iran would want the nice clothes they see on those shows. They would want the swimming pools and fancy lifestyles.’ “

Mike: I can’t remember how I stumbled on this, but I came across a story where a not so well-known but should be well-known Catholic priest is being asked a question about modern media and television. Why should we be so afraid to let our children watch network television? [mocking] “Come on, it can’t be that bad. The experts in Hollywood have reviewed this stuff. They’ve given it ratings. What’s the big deal, padre?” Padre goes into this exposé and starts talking about things that I had never heard before, nor had I ever considered them. … Founders Pass Members continue reading below.
I decided I’ll follow one of these leads up and actually track it down and either prove or deny the story. I was able to prove the story. Some of you are going to find this shocking. Others are just going to nod your head up and down and go: Ha! That’s child’s play. For some of you it will be like a GEICO Insurance TV commercial. It’ll be like: Yeah, everybody knows that, but did you know that the CIA tried to brainwash Iranians by playing them episodes of Melrose Place and 90210? By the way, that’s not a GEICO television commercial. That’s not a joke. That actually happened.
When we think about modern media today, and when we consume and are bombarded by modern media today, you may, if you’re astute in thinking about these sorts of things and praying upon these sorts of things, as we all should be, I think, you may have come to the realization that it is nearly if not impossible to shield yourself — if you can’t shield yourself, just imagine what the shield — just think Star Trek and the Enterprise. Just think of the shield you try to put up around your children. You can’t put a shield up around the kids. If you can’t avoid it and you’re trying to — children don’t try and avoid it. They’re immersed in it. How bad do you think the influence of modern media is on our kids? It is displayed in all forms and all shapes, all sizes, all venues, all media, there’s nowhere you can go, it seems, that you can escape this.
What it is that you can’t escape is that you cannot escape what amounts to very well-disguised, in some instances, but very powerful immoral and immodest influences. They’re contained in almost everything that we consume or are bombarded with in media, almost everything. There’s almost nowhere where you can avoid this. It doesn’t matter if you’re watching a sporting event. It’s irrelevant what you’re watching, in most cases.
We proceed from the assumption that the people that do this and perpetrate this, that they’re just a bunch of pinko commie libs. They’re in Hollywood. They have no moral compass. They’ve never been saved or however it is we put it. They live these decadent lifestyles and all this stuff. But they really don’t mean any harm by it. They’re just misguided libs. Well, what if they did mean harm by it. What if they knew — what if it was known to those that put most of this stuff together, what if it was known that they were actually practicing and developing things that they knew to be harmful to your internal moral compass?
During the course of our lives, on a daily basis, we all have to make decisions. Almost every moment of every day you have to make a decision. Am I going to do that? No. Moral compass is going: No, run, fast. Warning, warning, Will Robinson, liberal approaching. Go the other way. Don’t take that road. Get out. Get to the chopper. However your brain tells you bad things are about to happen, we’ve all developed this kind of sixth sense. What is it that we are running from, though? What is it that your sixth sense is telling you that is not healthy for you? It’s probably something that is, by design, despicable and evil. [mocking] “Come on, Mike, these people are not that smart. They couldn’t make these things that bad if they tried.” Oh, yeah? You wanna bet?
I heard this story and I decided to look it up and see if I can verify it. It is verifiable. The now defunct UPI News Service carried the story on 12 September 2002. You can find this in today’s Pile of Prep under flashback. Here’s the headline: “Netanyahu, U.S. should attack Iran with TV.” We should attack Iran with television, television? How are we going to attack them with television? Well, the same way that you attacked on a daily basis by immoral, immodest garbage. Paul, what’s the old saying: Garbage in?
Paul: Garbage out.
Mike: Put garbage in one end, you get garbage out the other. I’m not breaking any news here. I’m not setting the world on its head. It’s pretty simple, basic stuff here. Let’s go back to September 12, 2002. By the way, you can find this story in that week’s issue of Newsweek magazine as well.

A former Israeli prime minister Thursday called upon the United States to effect regime change in both Iraq and Iran, prescribing a military invasion to topple the government in Baghdad and the transmission of ribald television programming via satellite into Persia, where he said the influx of pop culture would prove “subversive” to the conservative Islamic regime.

Mike: The idea here was to pump American television series into Iran so that you could fill the little Iranians’ heads full of immoral and immodest messages. Remember, they live in a bit of a theocracy there. They’re not exposed to this sort of stuff. The grand scheme is: How can we expose them to it? You’re probably not going to get them to watch soft-core or any other core of pornography, but you don’t have to get them to watch porn to break their moral compasses and begin the process of turning them down to the dark side.

But the more pressing issue to Netanyahu is Iran’s neighbor, Iraq, which he said was dangerously close to developing weapons of mass destruction…

Mike: Just think about this for just a moment here. If you’re going to pipe in satellite television, Melrose Place and 90210, into Iran as a weapon of subversion that’s going to eat away at the morality that the theocratic State of Iran tries to drive into the heads of young Iranians, what does that say about the content of Melrose Place and 90210? Folks, we’re going back 20 years. This is not like this stuff was just broadcast. 90210 came out in the early ‘90s, and so did Melrose Place. This is old-school. The stuff they do on television today, you could say that Melrose Place and 90210, that is Romper Room. That’s Mr. Fred Rogers. This is Schoolhouse Rock compared to today’s broadcast television, yet as long as a broadcast television show has a “Y” rating on it — or some of them may say “MA-14.”[/rpivate]
If it was identified then as being weaponized — just think about weaponized television for just a moment. If it’s been weaponized and it’s broadcast into almost every home in the United States, what do you think it does to American, Western civilization children that view this stuff? You wonder why it’s hard to convince our sons and daughters that grow up in public schools and using public institutions, why it’s difficult to try to convince them, try as we might, that they should be more modest in their dress or modest in their disposition and should forego doing certain things? Of course, you’ll get the: Well, you did it. Well, this is because we have also absorbed all this.
The point is, this stuff is now ubiquitous. It’s everywhere. If you’re not prepared and not cognizant of it, that means that almost everyone is going to be exposed to this. Unfortunately, most people are going to cave into it and treat it as thought: Nothing to see here, citizen. Nothing to see here, citizen, move along.
