Mike:  There is certainly a cost in human terms, and certainly a cost to humanity and to civilization, and if you want to filter that down further and say that there is a cost to the United States or to the State of Louisiana or your State of Florida, you can break it down like that.  It’s not necessary to do it, though.  The reason it’s not necessary to do it is because there is a truth that can be known when it comes to the issue or to the existence of humanity.  There is a truth.  There is but one truth, we can know it, and we can repeat it to others, and we should repeat it to others.  When you’re in denial of the truth and you deny the uniqueness, the sanctity, the preciousness of human life regardless of what form it comes in, and regardless of what stage of its life, it is still termed a life.

For all the scientism that we practice — we’ll do as you just said.  We’ll remove all morality.  We’ll remove all religion and any spirituality and any supernatural from science and just discuss it without any of those things.  Science has failed and is going to fail because God is not going to let it do what God can do.  Science cannot create life; only God and God’s creatures that God created can create life.  This is the truth that is being denied here.  If you deny that only God can create life, [mocking] “No, man does it.”  No, man cooperates with God.  This is why this has to be the basis of morality.  I’m sorry, it cannot be put into a secular term because we had put it into secular terms.  The reason why you and I are having this conversation right now is precisely because it hasn’t been put in clearly, supernatural, moral terms.  That then guarantees that there is a consequence to denying, there is a consequence to error, there is a consequence to sin.

To deny that — as philosophers and as practicers — some of you are probably kicking and screaming and going along with this but maybe you’re learning some of it regardless — as practitioners and studiers of philosophia perennis, regardless of whether or not it’s the Aristotelean form or the Aquinas form, it doesn’t matter.  As philosophers, always look for ultimate purpose.  Ultimate purpose describes, characterizes, tells why things happen, precisely why.  You look for first causes, not secondary causes.  The secondary cause is consequentialism, nominalism, scientism, whichever modern heresy you wish to assign to it.  It doesn’t matter.  That’s secondary.  The primary cause is the denial of the supreme creator.  That is the primary cause.

Until we get that right, and until we get back to a station in our lives where we have gotten that right by affirmation, not by accident but by affirmation, by choice, by using your freewill, by not denying truth, by accepting truth, and not engaging in this ridiculous exercise that somehow we get a vote on truth.  We are a product of the truth; we are not truth.  We are a product of it.  Thanks for the call, Jeff.  You don’t get a say-so.  [mocking] “Hey, we’re going to do these Ten Commandments.  We’re going to take a vote.”  You don’t get a vote.  We’re going to have moral theology.  Christ himself is going to tell us himself a couple things that we shouldn’t do.  [mocking] “Wait a minute, I want to vote on that.”  You don’t get to vote on it!
