Mike:  . . . of Donald Trump.  The end is not near for Trumpzilla.  As a matter of fact, there’s a new poll out today that says not only is the end not near the finish line, that is Trump actually claiming the GOP nomination, becomes more of a reality every day, just as I’ve been telling you.  Every day that goes by on these clowns that are campaigning for the third runner-up spot or second runner-up spot to Dr. Carson, every day that goes by becomes more likely that Jeb Bush will be the running mate of Donald Trump.  You see, folks, as I’ve been telling you, the Republicans cannot have a noninterventionist – and Trump is – as their standard bearer unless they can roll him.  If they do roll him, then many of you are going to bail.  You’ll roll on him.

If we go to the pages of the Washington Examiner today, you’ll find a most – at first blush it may seem intriguing, but upon further review, it’s just another ridiculous cry for help, a desperate plea for attention from Jeb Bush.  Here’s the headline, “Jeb Bush: As president, I’ll end crony capitalism.”  You know the thing we talk about all the time here on this show?  What is truth?  Truth is conformity of the mind to reality.  Write that one down, too.  You might need that one sometime in the near future.  Truth is conformity of the mind to reality.

If someone were to say to you that there’s a guy that’s been sneaking into your backyard every night and he’s been stealing eggs from your chicken coop, provided you have a chicken coop – of course, if you live in a city, you won’t have a chicken coop.  You can replace something else there.  I like chicken coop because that suggests

that the subject of our discussion might be an agrarian.  We like agrarians.  We find out that someone has been sneaking into your backyard every night and stealing eggs out of your chicken coop.  If someone were to come to you and say: Do you know that someone is sneaking into your backyard and stealing eggs out of your chicken coop?  No, I did not know that.  If the someone then offered to stop the thief from stealing the eggs, would you anticipate that – here, let me give you a couple choices.

That would mean, A, the thief will no longer steal any eggs.  If your hen lays a dozen a day, you’ll find a dozen, unless a snake or wolf or some other creature or critter has stole up upon the eggs and found them.  You’ll find a dozen eggs.  Or would you expect – the guy told you: I’m going to stop the theft of your eggs.  If after this promise was made you went out and continued to find less than a dozen eggs, and Old Reliable (your hen) you knew laid a dozen eggs per day, yet you go out and every morning there’s only three eggs or four eggs or five eggs or two eggs, not a dozen, ever.  If you went to the person that promised to stop the theft of your eggs and he explained to you: No, I’m only going to stop the theft that I don’t approve of.  The guy can still steal from you.  I never said I was going to stop all of Jeb Bush-1it.  I’m only going to stop that little part of it that I don’t think he ought to be doing.  The rest of it, he needs to get in there and steal those eggs.  You didn’t understand that?  Thus the parable of the stolen egg can be applied to Jeb Bush’s promise to end crony capitalism by not ending it.

I was reading this and just laughing out loud, chuckling going: Really?  This is your plan?  We’re going to stop giving hundreds of billions of dollars to big agribusiness farmers.  Instead, we’ll just give $100 billion to little agribusiness farmers.  But that’s an end to crony capitalism.  Let’s read the title again, shall we?  This is written by former Governor Bush himself.  This isn’t the DC Examiner making a headline up.  This is Bush’s headline, “Jeb Bush: As president I’ll end crony capitalism.”  Listen to this and see if this sounds like an end to crony capitalism.

As president of the United States, I will use all the powers of my office to disrupt the political culture of a dysfunctional Washington, D.C.

[end reading]

Mike:  Isn’t it funny, ladies and gentlemen?  We could just stop right there and meditate upon this the rest of the day, couldn’t we?  He’s going to “disrupt the political culture of a dysfunctional Washington, D.C.”  Gee, I wonder who made it dysfunctional.  Let’s see.  Your father was there beginning in the early 1970s as a CIA director.  He went through other machinations of other high-holding, highfaluting federal offices.  He was vice president for eight years, president for four years.  Maybe he had something to do with the dysfunction.  Maybe?  Wait a minute.  It gets even better.  That brother of yours you keep defending for going to war with people that were not at war with him, presiding over the death of half a million of them, including women and children, but that’s okay.  That’s a small price to pay for us pro-lifers because we’ve got to keep America safe.  Maybe he, who was there for eight years, had something to do with it.  Don’t you love when one of the crowned royal families wants to run against the monster, wants you to give them the keys to the Cadillac so they can give it a spin, the same Cadillac that they say doesn’t run the way it used to and needs a tune-up and all that?

We need to clean house and it must start by eliminating the crony capitalism that is pervasive throughout the federal government. [Mike: Note the absolute term “eliminating crony capitalism.” Not making a deal with it, not downsizing it, eliminating.] There are tens of billions of dollars of corporate welfare subsidies tucked into the federal budget. An honest effort to cut the deficit should start here. [Mike: What brilliance. What prose. What genius.]

[/private]

During the debate on the last farm bill, U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa declared his opposition by pointing to the fact that 70 percent of the subsidies in the bill would go to the largest farmers. We can take care of small family farms and provide sufficient protection to American agriculture without handing out billions in subsidies to the biggest agribusiness companies.

[end reading]

Mike:  I thought you were going to eliminate crony capitalism.  The crony capitalists can only be someone that is “one of the largest farmers”?  You mean a middle-sized farmer, that’s not a crony capitalist?  The exact same thing happens.  They receive checks in the mail for stuff they’re told either not to grow or to grow at a price the government determines and here’s your subsidy to do so.  I thought we were ending crony capitalism, not giving it a makeover.  [mocking] “Coming up next on the Discovery Channel, Jebediah Bush with Crony Capitalism: Extreme Makeover.”  Folks, who reads this stuff and believes these people?  Here’s another question.  Who reads this stuff and doesn’t see the illogic of it?  Either you’re going to eliminate something, which to me, perhaps maybe I’m misled, but to me, if you eliminate something you get rid of it.  As my buddy Jay Thomas likes to say: Get rid of it, get rid of it, get rid of it.  Bush continues with the “elimination” of crony capitalism.

We also need to stop picking winners and losers in the energy industry. My tax reform plan would phase out all the tax breaks for the oil and gas industry, as well as those for wind, solar and renewables.

With a level playing field and regulatory certainty from Washington, we can leverage our newly realized status as an energy superpower to create jobs and reduce the cost of gasoline and utility bills for the American people.

[end reading]

Mike:  Wait a minute.  I’d like to know, because I think this screed must have been written three years ago when they were dreaming this campaign up, you mean you’re going to reduce gasoline costs beyond what’s already occurred as a result of what used to be called market forces, I guess?
