Obama VS Reagan: A Voice in True Liberty

Background

Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript:

[Clip] President Obama: There will be many issues to discuss between our two countries. And we are willing to move forward without preconditions on the basis of mutual respect. But it is clear to all concerned that, when it comes to nuclear weapons, we have reached a decisive point. This is not simply about America’s interests.

Mike: Oh, really.

[Clip] President Obama: It’s about preventing a nuclear arms race in the Middle East that could lead this region and the world down a hugely dangerous path. Now, I understand those who protest that some countries have weapons that others do not. No single nation should pick and choose which nation holds nuclear weapons.

Mike: Really.

[Clip] President Obama: And that’s why I strongly reaffirmed America’s commitment to seek a world in which no nations hold nuclear weapons. [Applause]

Mike: Yay, yay, yay. They have Obamabot zombies in Cairo. Let it play.

[Clip] President Obama: And any nation, including Iran, should have the right to access peaceful nuclear power if it complies with its responsibilities under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. That commitment is at the core of the treaty. And it must be kept for all who fully abide by it. And I’m hopeful that all countries in the region can share in this goal. The fourth issue that I will address…

Don’t Blame Obama For The IRS And AP Scandals, Blame Big Government

Mike: Stop the digital media file. You mean like the North Koreans abide by the agreement? Is that what you mean? Yeah, because they’re spot-on with their abiding by it; right? You mean how the Syrians abide by the agreement, Mr. Obama? You know, the nuclear reactor that was bombed into the stone ages by the Israelis because they feared it was being used to make a bomb? Remember that one? You mean how the Iranians have done everything that the International Atomic Energy Agency has asked them to do? Do you mean that compliance? This is more of the same naïveté that comes out of this guy’s mouth that assumes that we’re dealing with all of these angels, saints, and choirboys, that they mean what they say, and they mean us no harm. That is simply not true.

Now, I will concede, and I will hope that the U.S.’s involvement in the Middle East come to a grinding halt as it applies to our financing of this regime or that regime, and our funding of keeping the Straits of Hormuz open, and the use of our Navy to ensure that the Saudi sheikhs continue to be able to purchase tin-plated or nickel-plated Audi A6s and new palaces to build around. But I think it’s wrong. I think it’s long overdue that we turn ourselves inward and that we explore for and find our own energy, and we stop playing world super ocean policemen. Do we need a Navy? Absolutely. We need to make sure that our stuff can arrive safely. That’s the purpose of the Navy. And that we can defend our shores against a foreign invasion. Sure, we need a Navy. So I’ll concede that. But he’s not talking about that. That’s not what he’s talking about. He’s talking about, well, no, that we’ve got to give them a chance.

road-to-independence-BH-RTIDE2-detailLadies and gentlemen, it only takes one mistake to end the lives of 50 million people. One. Doesn’t take a series of mistakes. Takes one. All that need happen is for one nuclear device to be assembled in Iran, shipped out under cover of darkness to some rogue terrorist organization that believes that they are empowered by this god named Allah to go and bring it into San Francisco Bay and detonate it. God forbid. Only takes one mistake while you’re out there holding hands and singing “Kumbaya” and thinking that all we have to do is reach out and trust our fellow man across the shores there. And if we just give them the right college education program, why, they’ll be as right as rain. If we just fully fund their community organizations there, and make sure that their economy can develop windmills and solar panels, that they’ll all love us and hold our hands around, I mean, some of this stuff is just so blatantly stupid, you just want to run around and go into – you want to run into a corner and go cry somewhere.

So compare what you just heard to Ronald Reagan at the Brandenburg Gate. This is Part 2 of what you heard at the top of the hour. This is Reagan standing right there in the den of evil, right across the border from where Mikhail Gorbachev, who was running the show at that time, from where the evil empire, the Soviet Union, in Red Communist Russia, was oppressing its people, overseeing the starvation and death of tens of millions of them, was telling the world that they were right, we were wrong, and that communism rocked, capitalism sucked, and on and on and on. Ronald Reagan went there, put a podium up, stood in front of that wall and said this:

[Clip] President Reagan: Now the Soviets themselves may in a limited way be coming to understand the importance of freedom. We hear much from Moscow about a new policy of reform and openness. Some political prisoners have been released. Certain foreign news broadcasts are no longer being jammed. Some economic enterprises have been permitted to operate with greater freedom from state control. Are these the beginnings of profound changes in the Soviet state? Or are they token gestures intended to raise false hopes in the West or to strengthen the Soviet system without changing it? We welcome change and openness, for we believe that freedom and security go together, that the advance of human liberty, the advance of human liberty can only strengthen the cause of world peace. There is one sign that the Soviets can make that would be unmistakable, that would advance dramatically the cause of freedom and peace. General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization, come here to this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate. [Applause]

Mike: I get chills. I’m getting goose bumps. That’s a leader. Let it play. Ladies and gentlemen, you are listening to history. Not made-up platitudes and bumper stickers, history. Listen to that applause.

[Clip] President Reagan: Mr. Gorbachev. Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall. [Applause]

Mike: I want you to hear the rest. Here’s what comes after that. Listen.

[Clip] President Reagan: I understand the fear of war and the pain of division that afflict this continent. And I pledge to you my country’s efforts to help overcome these burdens, to be sure we in the West must resist Soviet expansion. So we must maintain defenses of unassailable strength. Yet we seek peace. So we must strive to reduce arms on both sides. Beginning ten years ago the Soviets challenged the Western alliance with a grave new threat – hundreds of new and more deadly SS-20 nuclear missiles, capable of striking every capital in Europe. The Western alliance responded by committing itself to a counter-deployment unless the Soviets agreed to negotiate a better solution, namely the elimination of such weapons on both sides. For many months the Soviets refused to bargain in earnestness. As the alliance in turn prepared to go forward with its counter-deployment, there were difficult days, days of protests, like those during my 1982 visit to this city. And the Soviets later walked away from the table.

Mike: Right.

[Clip] President Reagan: But through it all, the alliance held firm. And I invite those who protested then, I invite those who protest today, to mark this fact. Because we remained strong, the Soviets came back to the table.

republican-shirt-ifyouhavetoask1Mike: Now, I don’t know any other – I cannot say what Ronald Wilson Reagan, who I named a daughter after, just said. I can’t repeat it. I don’t need to. I can’t comment on it. I don’t need to. All I need to do is to play for you Barack Obama trying to be a Ronald Reagan, and in my estimation, and to our detriment, failing miserably. You people that hold this man up as this paragon of public speaking virtue and all these things, what you just heard did make history. And you just heard an unapologetic Ronald Wilson Reagan say they told us they were going to reduce arms. We told them to go pound sand. We told them to go screw themselves. Until you actually show us that you’ve dismantled them, you’re not getting anything. And we’re going to build bigger and badder missiles than you do, pal.

You just heard Ronald Reagan say the beautiful, wonderful words that it is human liberty that sets people free. It’s not a chat room. It’s not a community organization, for crying out loud. Did Obama use the word “liberty” in that speech? Will you do – I don’t have it here in front of me, Cynthia. Will you word search that speech for me, see if you can find a transcript, see if you can find the word “liberty.” He is a phony. He’s a fake. He’s an egomaniac. And all he’s trying to do here is promote Obamanomics in the rest of the world. All they need to be happy and to be our buddies is a windmill. All they need to be happy and to be our buddies is to have an ACORN branch in Istanbul. That’s all they need. That’s what’s missing over there.

It’s disgraceful. This is not about world peace. This is about him. This is about adulation for the egomaniac here. This is about padding a résumé and selling some more concert tickets. That’s what this is about. It’s shameless. It’s flimsy. It’s transparent. And anybody that has half a flippin’ noggin can see through it. But the idolatry, the quest, the thirst of people out there for new Mahatma Gandhi to have a hunger strike with powers all of this. I want to know when Obama’s going to go over there to New Delhi, grow two more arms on either side, and perch himself in front of the temple and refuse to eat until Bin Laden comes and meets him.
