Announcing The Campaign For Real radio And Inviting You To Become A Founding Member

Background

Mandeville, LA – In 1971 4 Irishmen, sick of the mergers and acquisitions in the beer making industry that led to 3 conglomerates producing 90% of all “beer” available in the UK, formed The Campaign For Real Ale or CAMRA. By October 1973 the group had 5,000 members and by 1976 membership had reached 30,000. What followed was the revolution in microbrewries which are now still providing a never ending flow of ales; locally made for local tastes not only in the UK but here in the U.S. The benefits in both tasty ales and in the millions of hand-crafting vocations provided are still with us today.

In that spirit I propose the radio broadcasting equivalent: The Campaign For Real Radio. Today over 90% of all talk-radio consumed is produced by 3 conglomerates: SiriusXM Satellite radio, Premiere Broadcasting and Westwood One. Too many people make the mistake of categorizing podcasts as radio broadcasts but they are not related. LIVE, local radio broadcasting is distinct in its media and it requires a skill set and devotion the podcaster might possess but can make little use of. The CAMRA goals are simple.
