It is invthe DISSENTING opinion thought that Chris Ferrara says we find the real wisdon behind “judicial review: “If we in the judiciary do not have the authority, and indeed the responsibility, to right fundamental wrongs left excused by a majority of the electorate, our whole intricate, constitutional system of checks and balances, as well as the oaths to which we swore, prove to be nothing but shams.” [Chris Ferrara responds] “She happens to be right. Judicial review, guided by the objective requirements of the moral law and natural justice (cf. Hadley Arkes, “Beyond the Constitution”) would require not merely upholding a majority’s ban on same-sex marriage, but overturning a majority’s legalization of it. Today’s judicial conservatives are merely positivists, while the liberals are moralists advancing the wrong morality.”

So the Presidential candidates from the GOP may be concentrated in TX, FL and WI (Walker & Ryan) with the wild cards coming from KY, PA and maybe VA

AZ tries to act all “federally” again by passing a ballot initiative that will give the state recourse (they don’t need this but it won’t hurt) against unconstitutional and ill-conceived federal legislative acts…like ObamaCare. The big news here is that AZ voters have figured out the great deception at play here, from the bill’s description. “Politicians in Washington are fond of passing far-reaching laws, but more often than not they depend on state and local governments – and state and local taxpayers – to implement them.”

Dave Weigel: “So GOP, you’ve won all this power, now what will you do with it?” On the campaign trail, election night with GOP media activists reveals what I like to call the “Usual Suspects at Work”, meaning when one party grabs power” from the other the first casualty are promises made to “stop spending” which dissipates when the debate over $3.9 TRILLION in free money gets brought up

The troubles begin to mount for Senator Mary Landrieu’s now long-shot bid to remain in the throes of helping spend $3.9 TRILLION per year in the U.S. Senate as the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee bails out of its schedule advertising for her through the runoff. Finally, the NARAL backed, 100% NARAL compliant voting record Landrieu can retire to her mansion in Mordor and live comfortably off the wages she never earned but so greedily swallowed.

Meanwhile on the other side of the baby execution capitol of the planet, Nancy Pelosi finds squabbling Democrats sniping at her for lack of “leadership”. One Democrat even says that Americans “love our leftist policies but hate us”. A statement borne out by the Leftist policy options proposed by Republicans in the name of “conservatism”

The “issue” of homosexual “marriage” won’t go away until 1. Congress instructs the Federal Judiciary to STOP their legislating or 2. Christians, devout in their understanding and fidelity to sacramental marriage vow unanimity on the matter in opposition and suffer what public remonstrances we must or 3. The union breaks up over the matter and the states leaving assert a very loud NO. MEANWHILE, it is informative to witness the doctrinal debate happening in a few Christian denominations for the sake of comparison. Witness for example Rod Dreher’s coverage of the Orthodox’s response to the zeitgeist, drswing heavily from the Episcopalian capitulation, note the lack of  doctrinal posturing and the abundance of emotionalism. Now…

…compare that to the latest from a Roman Catholic Bishop who must deal with emotionalism but has a 2,000 year old history of quotable, reliable, Holy Ghost inspired word to draw a credible and more importantly sacred rebuttal. I might suggest that St Augustine, who was a Father of the Orthodox Church (he was a Dr before the schism) offers a most profound text on the subject of “Marriage & Conscupiscence” I seem to be in sole possession of its existence. Here’s a sample “Wherefore, if one woman cohabits with several men, inasmuch as no increase of offspring accrues to her therefrom, but only a more frequent gratification of lust, she cannot possibly be a wife, but only a harlot.”

“Still McCain” will get his own pet committee to grandstand and proselytize for more never ending wars while making the current conflicts more permanent

“Voters” in Colorado and North Dakota declare God is NOT the author of Creation, has no say so in when life begins and cannot say when a human becomes a human, only perverts drunk on the wretched passion of promiscuity get to make that determination

A point of view I have been promoting the last few months is that moral revival cannot and will not come from the ballot box or electing new cadres of Republican “saviors”. It will come when Americans (and the rest of the world’s Christians) ditch the contrivances of the material world for the Kingdom of Heaven. In doing so, pro-lifers will no longer tolerate any sanction, cover or assistance given to a government that funds and condones the murder of the soon to be born. This will make martyrs of many Christians, I am convinced, but oh what happy martyrs for such a Glorious Cause as is devotion to Almighty God’s commandments and the literal instructions given us by Our Lord. Congress has been given the blank check for a brand new war with ISIS with all the Congressional trimmings with Obama’s promise to seek an AUMF on the matter. Will anyone, ANYONE even ask if 1. This is a Just War (no it isn’t) and 2. Even if it met that lofty threshold, would it be prudent for the United States to wage it? Daniel Larison asks the second question

This is taught by Saint Paul in his letter inspired by the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 11, 27-30, this cannot be put to the vote, just as the Divinity of Christ would never be put to a vote.”
