(Audio) Mandeville, LA – If you’re a frequent listener to the show then you may have heardthe KingDude mention a founding fellow by the name of Charles Carrollof Carrollton. You may have also heard him refer to the book ‘American Cicero’which tells the life story of Charles Carroll. The reason for thisintroduction rests on the fact that Bradley Birzer was gracious enoughwith his time to be on the show with us this morning.

Bradleyis a Professor of History and Director of the Hillsdale College Programin American Studies, he has quite the credentials on a little thing welike to call history and having him spread some of his vast knowledgeon the show with us this morning was a true blessing. Mike starts by asking Bradley how writing his book American Cicerocame to be and then has Bradley tell a story about Charles Carroll andother Marylanders who sparked their own citizen debate to stand up forand oppose the royal Governor of the time. The conclusion of the storygets them on the topic of religion in the Founders Generation and howCatholicism wasn’t something you stood on rooftops and proclaimed fromthe top of your lungs like you could get away with today.

The second segment of the interview with Bradley Birzer takes more of a current precedence when Mike comments on a review Bradley wrote on Tom Engelhardt’s book ‘The American Way Of War’ comparingwhat he has learned from studying Charles Carroll and the Declarationof Independence to today and your average Conservative view.
