Mike:  Now that we know, after reading lots of correspondence from people that knew him, we also now know that George Washington was affiliated and had friends that were slave owners.  I think we should take him off the dollar bill, don’t you?

Caller Mark:  Right.

Mike:  I am freaking serious here.  We know that George Washington had friends and close associates that owned slaves.  I demand that the U.S. Treasury — as a matter of fact, I want a giant crane with a five-ton wrecking ball on the end of it to smash that thing called the Washington Monument.  That thing needs to come down.  Washington had friends that were slave owners.  He had relatives that were slave owners.  Jefferson owned slaves, too.  Jefferson had plantation buddies in the northern Shenandoah Valley that also owned slaves.  Jefferson’s coming off the nickel and he’s coming off the $2 bill.  I want the Jefferson Memorial demolished.  I want to bring one of those demolition teams in there and take the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial down.  They had friends that were slave owners.  And they actually owned slaves, too.

Caller Mark:  It leaves me speechless.

Mike:  It should leave you speechless.  Thank you very much for the call, Mark.  We can keep Hamilton on the $10.  Let me think about this.  Wait a minute, wait a minute.  Hamilton was a confidant of Washington.  Washington owned slaves.  Hamilton’s out, too.  The $1 and $10 are done.  Lincoln only admonished negroes, as he called them, and only believed them to be an inferior race.  I don’t know if we can take Lincoln off the $5 bill yet, but Lincoln is questionable.  Andrew Jackson most assuredly knew people and had friends and associates who owned slaves, so Jackson’s off the $20.  Hang on, we’re not finished yet.  Franklin I think, no, Franklin had friends that were slave owners.  Franklin affiliated with slave owners, to Franklin’s done, too.  Who’s on the $50?  Ulysses S. Grant.  We can keep Grant.  I don’t even know who’s on the $500.  I don’t think I’ve ever had — Andrew, have you ever had a $500 bill?

AG:  Do they actually exist?

Mike:  I don’t know.  I think they have a $1,000 and Woodrow Wilson, heaven forefend, is on the $1,000.  I don’t get to hold Franklins very often, how about you?

AG:  Yeah, my stacks of cash are limited to dollar bills or fives.

Mike:  We’ve cleansed the money supply.  Jack Kennedy is on the Kennedy Dollar or the Kennedy 50-cent piece.  I think Kennedy is okay, while we’re cleansing ourselves here.
