Hate Mail! Listener Wishes Me To Spare Him In My “Theocracy” With Moses

todaySeptember 5, 2014

Background

Mandeville, LA – There are some letters and notes that come into my hand that require no explanation nor response on my part, this is one of those. It might give you a chuckle or it might darken your day with the realization that for many, our baby-killing secular theocracy of Lincoln et al IS a religion-state.

“KingDude – Was listening to the 8/29 show and a caller brought up the point that we don’t need religious moral pronouncements; that reason, empathy and practicality are superior when it comes to guiding morality. You came back with Moses and the ten commandments. It gave me an idea on how you could clarify your convoluted position of establishing a theocracy while not really establishing a theocracy in America. Get a GoPro, climb on a mountain and have God hand down the new American constitution, just like He handed down the Ten Commandments to Moses. Not only would seeing this be sufficient evidence to convince a rational skeptic like myself; it would also most likely convert many Muslims to Christianity, alleviating some of the violence perpetuated by religion on Earth. Not to mention, you would become the modern day Moses and get lots of traffic on your website and show. Of course the only drawback would be, in all probability, none of that would actually happen and after a few days on the top of the mountain, everyone would see you on your GoPro scratching away at a big rock with a smaller rock. But then again you would still be the modern day Moses. Delete this email immediately and go back to your confirmation bias and special pleading.

PS – This is a request to appear on top of a mountain hence I ticked the “Mike Church Appearance Request” button.” – Lee Newsom

My response

Dear Lee,
This is very funny, I hope you enjoyed writing and sending it, thanks for thinking of me. I don’t want to say I’ll “never” get to the mountaintop you mention as that is currently in serious doubt, however, I shall make a special note to ask Moses to summon you on that day should haec mirabilus occur.

May your weekend be filled with joy and satisfying correspondence,

dominus vobiscum,

Mike Church

Lee, the Lord does “cool stuff” every day. You are blinded by hubris. That’s too bad.

Lucky for you, lots of folks pray for your conversion.

    Dear Mike,

I am glad you take the heat for most of us, and I pray that you perservere. Although I try to have educational discussions in the same manner you do, it always seems to fall on deaf ears. Seems like those who think like Mr. Newsome outnumber us exponentially. Keep up the good work.

It is amazing that we think that we are more sophisticated and enlightened than the last generation. Interestingly enough the last generation thought the same way, and so did their parents, and their parents- parents. No generation has a lock on superior knowledge, none, yet the gnostic heretics exist. I’d like to believe that the founding fathers knew this human propensity to absolute knowledge and put into place a higher, unsurpassable knowledge and with that knowledge comes omnipotence and omnipresence. With this supremely higher knowledge comes the subordinate knowledge which we all possess. For believers, and the founders, this supremely higher knowledge we call God. We get our rights from this supremely higher knowledge, accordingly they cannot be taken by subordinate knowledge holders.

I take great comfort in knowing that I am endowed by my. Creator certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

For non believers and atheists rejoice! It is far better to know that your rights are bestowed and protected by a supreme higher knowledge, than to leave them to the arbitrary and capricious nature of enlightened humans.

I for one am deeply humbled that such a gift been given to me and for that I am
greatful. So Michael, keep focused, every generation has their “Lees” and they will never recognize what they have and will always think themselves superior to that they do not see and yet mock as if it doesn’t exist.

Too bad GoPros weren’t around in the day of Moses. If there were, there wouldn’t be Christianity, or Judaism for that matter. Too bad God doesn’t do cool stuff like He did in the good old days. Hmmm I wonder why? Maybe He’s camera shy.
