Well, Thomas Jefferson explained this in a letter to John Taylor of Caroline County in 1816. “Were I to assign to this term a precise and definite idea, I would say, purely and simply, it means a government by its citizens in mass, acting directly and personally, according to rules established by the majority; and that every other government is more or less republican, in proportion as it has in its composition more or less of this ingredient of the direct action of the citizens. Such a government is evidently restrained to very narrow limits of space and population. I doubt if it would be practicable beyond the extent of a New England township.” – Thomas Jefferson

Mandeville, LA – The UVA “sexual assault” controversy has devolved now into a spectacle of growing embarrassments. The professional “reporters” for Rolling Stone have had their lunch eaten by blogging amateurs while Gal Queda – TNG, continue to insist that facts don’t matter and gang-rape is a normal part of university life so it doesn’t matter if “Jackie’s” facts are true, it’s the thought that counts. I respond that if in order to quell the sinful and violent crime of gang rape we have to have Rolling Stone magazine and other media (the same ones who promoted sexual revolutions that created co-ed schools and the “hook-up” curse) “bring the issue to light” then civilization has already lost and cannot be recovered but by Great Floods or the Second coming of Our Lord.
