South Baton Rouge to Secede from North B.R. [r]epublicanism Alive in Louisiana

Background

Secede_or_Die_Can_FLEECE_FEATURED_XMASMandeville, LA – Mike Church’s daily Pile of Prep, chock full of the latest Secede or die news from Baton Rouge, the REAL point of Gettysburg with Mike’s historical viewpoint to help make sense of it all plus other [r]epublican stories used to perform the Mike Church Show on Sirius/XM Patriot channel 125. “A propositional nation like Lincoln’s is “teleocratic,” in philosopher Michael Oakeshott’s use of the word, as distinct from “nomocratic.” That is, it governs itself by the never-ending pursuit of an abstract “idea” rather than by a regime of law that allows individuals and local communities to live ordinary lives and to find their highest calling in causes other than the nation-state. Lincoln left all Americans, North and South, with a purpose-driven nation.” – Richard Gamble on Lincoln and his “Gettysburg Gospel”

Gary Wills gives heroic, cheery, inspirational cover to the “anniversary” of the Gettysburg Address titling his piece “The words that remade America” and boy is he all right for all the wrong reasons

H.L. Mencken is worth reading on many topics but especially on Gettsyburg, you will find his entire critique of Lincoln’s “Gospel” beginning on page 173

The biography of Albert Gallatin is worth knowing and this “American Statesman” book on him is a good start

John Taylor of Caroline was the most influential [r]epublican voice of his day and his work remains as  necessary reading. This essay by the great Joseph Stromberg, first published in 1982, explains Taylor’s [r]epublicanism and libertarian thought, unlike any other American of his time

S.J. Quinn’s The History of Fredericksburg, VA is a most thrilling historical walk through 18th & 19th century American history &b includes episodes from 1776, 1798 and 1861

One of the most accomplished yet little know Founder AND Christian Gentlemen was John Randolph of Roanoke, I am researching him for reference and for a good volume on his life to republish, this one is rare and good

Richard Gamble answers Wills’ hero worship of Lincoln with some thoughts on the global tragedy that began to unfold that day (global in the sense that people all over the world have gotten a deadly taste of “American Exceptionalism” since that date)

Then there is this immortal gem from Southern literary giant H.L. Mencken on Lincoln’s “Gospel” (link to read long form is in the “Prep better” segment t above.

“But let us not forget that it is oratory, not logic; beauty, not sense. Think of the argument in it! Put it into the cold words of everyday! The doctrine is simply this: that the Union soldiers who died at Gettysburg sacrificed their lives to the cause of selfdetermination—”that government of the people, by the people, for the people,” should not perish from the earth. It is difficult to imagine anything more untrue. The Union soldiers in that battle actually fought against self-determination; it was the Confederates who fought for the right of their people to govern themselves. What was the practical effect of the battle of Gettysburg? What else than the destruction of the old sovereignty of the States, i. e., of the people of the States? The Confederates went into battle an absolutely free people; they came out with their freedom subject to the supervision and vote of the rest of the country—and for nearly twenty years that vote was so effective that they enjoyed scarcely any freedom at all. Am I the first American to note the fundamental nonsensicality of the Gettysburg address? If so, I plead my aesthetic joy in it in amelioration of the sacrilege.”– H.L. Mencken, Prejudices, Vol III, p 175

McCarthy: Is there any “social conservative” movement to begin attempting to reverse “Griswold v CT” the famous “contraceptives” guaranteed by the 14th amendment case? Not if they want to win any elections any times soon but there ARE things those conservatives can do

If at First You Don’t Secede… The citizens of south Baton Rouge aka St George are ready to seceders-withdraw-from north Baton Rouge over cultural and property differences as the spread of the contagion known as [r]epublicanism & human scale “Exceptionalists” and “Progressives” will deride

The nefarious “War on Drugs” snags a Tea Party Congressman in a cocaine buy. Trey Radel of FL a Republican seems like most “conservatives” proving that the “war on drugs” is but a legal trap for revenue and increased police force staffing

Why Common Core does NOT “move education forward” and what is the purpose of education precisely? Patrick Deneen has some excellent thoughts on this

The nightmare of out of scale Leviathan and ObamaCare rolls on to yet another victim’s home: Woman cited as Obamacare success story finds out she does not qualify after miscalculation realized

Obamacare disapproval hits new highs as public appears to still be divisive on certain parts of the law:

Big Media has yet to play its biggest “we’ll give ObamaCare CPR and save it” card. What is that? Well, the REASON they pimped it to start with: BILLIONS in advertising

Have we reached “peak car”? In other words is [r]epublicanism REALLY making a comeback to the point where people are actually driving LESS for commutes, long distance moves and relocations? These charts suggest the answer is… well you decide
