This Day In Founders History – July 30
One day prior to today, on July 29, 1767, the Townshend Revenue Act was imposed on the colonies by British parliament, taxing imported goods including paper, paint, lead, glass and tea. Colonial merchants proceeded to boycott British goods.
On this day in 1729, the Town of Baltimore was founded and named after Cecilius Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore, son of George Calvert, 1st Baron Baltimore, colonial founder of Maryland.
July 30, 1932, West Virginia ratifies the 20th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
