Mandeville, LA – Mike Church’s daily Pile of Prep, chock full of the latest ObamaCare atrocities as the Constitutional crisis I have long predicted is coming to fruition. Read along with my historical viewpoint to help make sense of it all plus other [r]epublican stories used to perform the Mike Church Show on Sirius/XM Patriot channel 125.“I consider the foundation of the Constitution as laid on this ground: That “all powers not delegated to the United States, by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States or to the people.” [XIIth amendment.] To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn around the powers of Congress, is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition.“ – Thomas Jefferson – from Kevin Gutzman’s review of “The Conscience of the Constitution”
Archbishop Fulton Sheen, way back in the early days of TV, 1954, shows us what real freedom is and juxtaposes it to the faux freedom we think we have today because we can choose the color of our iPhone plastic. There is freedom from something and freedom for something. We have ample supply of the former and very little of the latter.
The Christmas edition of the American History Quiz from our friends at Franklin’s Opus
Spyin’ Eyes: Conor Friersdorf wants us all to keep the heat on the NSA and the Congress that did not create the agency and now refuses to exterminate it

There’s no better long form reading project than getting familiar with John Taylor of Caroline’s “Tyranny Unmasked” quite possibly the best tract ever written on the subject of what he called “protection” but what we call “corporatism”
What did the English think of the North’s ridiculous claims that the Confederate States 1. Could not secede 2.Were never sovereign & Independent and 3. Were justified in their defense of themselves? Read all about it, start on p. 650
H.L. Mencken is worth reading on many topics but especially on Gettsyburg, you will find his entire critique of Lincoln’s “Gospel” beginning on page 173
The biography of Albert Gallatin is worth knowing and this “American Statesman” book on him is a good start
John Taylor of Caroline was the most influential [r]epublican voice of his day and his work remains as necessary reading. This essay by the great Joseph Stromberg, first published in 1982, explains Taylor’s [r]epublicanism and libertarian thought, unlike any other American of his time
S.J. Quinn’s The History of Fredericksburg, VA is a most thrilling historical walk through 18th & 19th century American history &b includes episodes from 1776, 1798 and 1861
One of the most accomplished yet little know Founder AND Christian Gentlemen was John Randolph of Roanoke, I am researching him for reference and for a good volume on his life to republish, this one is rare and good

There’s nothing free about this “underground railroad”. What Obama actually is, a corporatist as opposed to a communist. This story of the rigged, corrupt method used to award “rail projects” tells us everything we need to know about that. As John Taylor noted in yesterday’s POP, this corruption is always done in the guise of being for the benefit of public welfare when in fact it’s for fat bastard, free-loading underachieving snobs.
Drop Pocket Bumstead – A federal judge makes a ruling in a case he may actually HAVE constitutional jurisdiction over: The bankruptcy of Detroit. Parisite “civil service” labor unions are not happy which makes this ruling have a certain glow
Mish weighs in: Detroit may have actually hit the bottom and is now poised… wait for it… for a comeback! Here’s the plan….
Andy McCarthy: Politics has descended into the equivalent of TV Soap operas. At the end of a day’s filming Soap actors go home but our political Soap’s stars stay, 24/7/365, lying, tyrannizing and corrupting everything in their grasp. “As he did, the media marveled not at how dissolute Clinton was but at how fabulous he was at lying about it. In previous times, gross fraud was a disqualifier for offices of public trust. Now, fraud and the dexterity to carry it off in the light of day — to look the press itself in the eye and lie with indignation — became admirable political attributes.”
“The Mortgage sky is falling, the Mortgage sky is falling!” Chickenhawk test sucklers in the banking industry warn of the collapse of “the American home mortgage system” if something crazy happens like the Congress telling Fannie & Freddie to go pound sand
Is that a plastic, printed gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see my drone delivered free book from amazon.com? Congress to vote on banning plastic guns. Yes, you read that correctly. Plastic guns
Just as we cannot allow the federal edifice to be the judge of the extent of its own powers we cannot allow the Obama administration to become the judge of the extent of its own success. It is now doing exactly that, proclaiming that healthcare.gov is ready to solve the planet’s health insurance needs when up to 20% of the sites visitors still experience failure. This says nothing of all the successful rubes who are seeing their premiums skyrocket and cannot get a subsidy bailout like Caller “Steve” on Monday’s Sirius/XM radio show.
In “Death of the American Family” Derek Thompson rehashes arguments made effectively by Charles Murray in “The End of White America” without making Murray’s startling but accurate conclusion. The well-to-do whites do not lead by example and do not preach their example
Lest any of we peasants think that our ruling masters, including our Dear Leader, have no intention of pretending they are one of us. The White House promises that Dear Leader will be choosing his family’s health insurance plan from the ObamCare exchange. Now, just when this transaction will occur is Obama and Nostradamus’s best guess.
What is rural America for? Well it isn’t just for Hollywood’s reservoir of fictional hicks, hayseeds and gun nuts anymore. Bill Kaufmann, author of Bye Bye Miss American Empire and Copperheads explains
How is it that Wal-Mart can process 10 million transactions in 4 hours yet healthcare.gov “crashes” trying to process 50k? Maybe Wal-Mart should run ObamaCare?
Nomocracy in Politics: The Senate’s 50 vote maneuver now makes our descent into democracy a near-guaranteed outcome and “pure democracy” is what brought down the ancient [r]epublics in Greece and Rome. The Framers of the Constitution relied on [r]epublicanism to be the ultimate check against centralizing power, the Senate no longer serves that purpose.
