The Founders, Hell and Hand Baskets

2011 Mike Church

Hi folks its Mike Church with todays Church Doctrine

Everyone knows that the Founding Fathers are making a big comeback and while this is good news for conservatives it is not good news enough. Why? Because just having some romantic affection for the Founders and a few of their famous quotes does nothing to explain why they acted, said and wrote the way they did. So if we are to truly take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity of aligning our government and way of life with the Founders we have to dig a bit deeper and the first stop on our reunion tour is their embrace of religion.

I know this puts a lot of people on the defensive but there is really no need to be so disposed. Men like Jefferson were not of religious character but we know nothing of that from their public works. this is because Jefferson and others had a healthy respect for the role religion played in most citizen and communities lives. At the least this would require step one of our reunion with the Founders to be: encourage religious freedom and restore it as a PART of our public discourse.

Failing to do this will only preserve the status quo which comes complete with hell and a hand basket.
