Caller Ellen Tries To Get People Involved… But Most Just Want To Go To A Movie

Background

Mandevilla, LA – Exclusive Transcript – I don’t think the early generations of republicans went off into their legislatures carrying the wishes of the hoi polloi.  I think they went off to their legislatures and they were trusted by the hoi polloi or by the peasantry that they had their best interests at heart and were going to carry it into fruition.  As a goal and an objective, they were going there to continue the practice of securing their safety and happiness and protecting their properties.  I don’t think that’s the case today.  As a matter of fact, I know it’s not the case. Check out today’s transcript for the rest…

Mike:  Let me go back to Ellen in Maryland.  You were telling me that people are apathetic when it comes to joining your gun rights march you want to have in all 50 states.  That is not what I am seeing, hearing and reading.

Caller Ellen:  Correct.  We do have some people interested.  I think we have 80 people signed up, but no one wants to basically help, although I did put an SOS out on my website.  There are some people stepping up.  There are so many people that would rather go to the movie or do anything else but help.  We’re trying our best to get this going.  Our legislators are not very pro-2nd Amendment.  It’s very frustrating but we’re not going to give up.

Mike:  I’d say a couple things are going on right now.  Number one, people may actually be afraid that if they do show up at one of these protests that they’re going to be marked and somewhere in the middle of the night someone is going to beat their door down, drag them out of their bed, and whisk them off into an NDAA holding cell.  I don’t necessarily share that belief, but I think you have to acknowledge that some people believe that’s going to happen.  There’s also the fact that — this one is just an eye-opener for me.

When I confronted my state representative and said, “I sent you an email a couple years back asking you to do something and you never responded.”  Of course, he proceeded, John Schroder, to basically say I was not telling the truth, that I had not sent him an email.  I said, “I beg to differ, sir.”  He went, “No, sir.  You can’t just send me emails and ask me to do things.  You have to actually flesh out what it is you want to do.”  In other words, I have to write the intellectual or historical narrative and legal narrative for the bill in order for him to carry it into fruition.  I just have to question, are you a state representative so that people in your district can write all manners of bills and send them to you and then you will carry them forward into the legislature, or are you a state representative because you have your own idea of presenting to your constituents your plans for preserving and conserving their freedoms and liberties and safety and happiness and properties, and that you invite their input because this is what we elected you to do?

I don’t think the early generations of republicans went off into their legislatures carrying the wishes of the hoi polloi.

Therein lies at least part of the problem.  We are entangled in this web with this deceitful, heinous, enormous, unbelievably gargantuan in size federal edifice called the federal government today.  How is it that you can instigate or hope to change it?  I keep coming back to the same answer.  Logic and history keep telling me the same thing.  It is too large.  It is going to resist change.  It is almost to the point where some of us really need our heads examined.  We really think that any change whatsoever in the way our government is administered at the so-called federal level, I would say the national level.  I suppose while there is a chance that it can be salvaged or altered, that’s why there’s a romantic attachment to it.

At some point in time, there will have to be a point where you have to say that is just not worth my time and effort any longer.  Maybe some of us actually have to get into the practice of actually legislating.  Maybe we have to have committees of correspondence and meetings of our own quasi-legislative bodies to discuss a course of action, anything other than what’s actually going on today, which apparently, by all indications, is a failure and continues to fail.  Don’t be too hard on your fellow citizens.  He may not know.  She may not know.  Just because we’ve posted something on a website, just because we’ve agitated to something doesn’t mean that everyone else agrees with us and knows that we’ve agitated and that they share our concerns and fear for the future.

Caller Ellen:  We have to do something.

Mike:  You have done something.

Caller Ellen:  I’m going to start going to the capitol, going for meetings, just keep plugging them and do the best I can.

Mike:  I think you should.  You should not be so dismissive of your actions because so few people have responded to them.  Take it from someone who’s been doing this for a long time and who wonders on a daily basis why more people don’t respond to his mighty oratory and exhortations to do things.

Caller Ellen:  I believe you have a very good point, sir.

Mike:  My life is a disappointment.  Every night when I go to bed, I have failed.  I have failed to secure my children’s future.  I have failed to convince enough fellow citizens that their future is in peril.  I live your disappointment, my dear.  I live it, eat it, sleep it, and breathe it.  I’m sure I’m not alone.  Maybe the fact that you and I have met —

Caller Ellen:  I feel good about this now.

Mike:  Maybe that’s what we should take away, the positives instead of the negatives.  Ellen has entered the fray.  That’s one more person that I know that has actually entered active opposition to the tyranny that is all about them and to the evisceration of your birthright as a citizen of this union of states.  You’ve actually reacted.  Kudos to you.  Don’t be so depressed about it.  Don’t go to bed every night like I do wondering how I screwed up.  Ellen, it’s a lot easier for you and I to just say: Look, we did our job.  We elected Boehner and company.  Now shut up.  I’ve got bowling tonight and bridge club tomorrow.  That’s all I give a rat’s furry behind about.  That’s a hell of a lot better existence, I think, than worrying about the future and actually trying to do something about it.  Don’t be so hard on yourself.  You elected Boehner, we elected Republicans in Congress.  [mocking] “Boehner is going to do it, Ellen, you just wait and see.”

Caller Ellen:  I’m not going to stand by and watch.

Mike:  Keep your spirits up.  Pray to Jesus.  Pray to the Father, the Almighty.  Get active in your church and with people in your community that share your point of view and that share your passion, that share your fear and are equally fearful.  Call it a day.  That’s really all you can do, my dear.

Caller Ellen:  Thank you, Mike.  You made my day.

Mike:  You’re very welcome, madam.  Thank you for the call phone.  Thanks for getting involved.  That’s all you can do.  What else is there?
