It’s A “Pure” Thing! My Prayer To The Blessed Virgin For Purity

Mandeville, LA – During my first Consecration to Jesus through Mary I tried to memorize the daily prayer of Blessed Father William Joseph Chaminade to Our Lady for purification:

“Through thy Holy Virginity and thy Immaculate Conception, O most pure Virgin, purify my body and sanctify my soul. “

This prayer goes at the end of each of 3 Ave Maria’s said at morning upon rising and at night before bed. If you are struggling with issues of purity and chastity this routine helps tremendously IF you are consistent and sincere in reciting them…easier said than done (pray for Graces!). During this Consecration I got the chance to spend lots of time getting  catechism through listening to lectures and sermons, one of them, by Fr. Michael Mary of the Alpine Redemptorists moved me greatly and still does; his talk on Psalm 69 which begins with the one of the most famous ejaculatory prayers known:

Deus in adjutoreum, meum intende

Domine ad adjuvantem, me festina

Incline unto my aid O God,

O’ Lord make haste to help me

It was during the learning and then habitual use of this prayer that I was inspired one day to compose the following, which I have inserted after my second of three Ave Maria’s, said at morning and night. I also say the prayer many times during the day as a little ejaculatory prayer to let Our Lady know she is on my mind. Please feel free to use or share it as you are inclined.

O’ beautiful Virgin Mary, please pray to the Lord our God, that I may receive the Graces needed to imitate thy most perfect and beautiful, Purity, Chastity and Humility; O sweet Virgin Mary, for thy intercession I pray.
