Mandeville, LA – Since 2000, the U.S. Border Patrol has been capturing illegal aliens then releasing them with requests that they show up for a deportation hearing. I say “request” because millions never show up and yet remain here for years with no adverse consequences. The latest, tragic example of this is the case of Pedro Alberto Navas. Navas was captured in TX on June 26th then released with his two children. At some point afterward he met Heidi Monroy of Metairie and had moved in with her. Last Saturday Monroy was found dead in the bathtub of her apartment, two days later Navas was arrested with his children in Houston on charges of 2nd degree murder. As of this writing the immigration status of Monroy is not known other than she admitted to being from Honduras. The details that emerge from reading this story should shock the citizens of this state into immediate action. Before Navas, Monroy and her two children were living in “abject poverty” in an apartment complex alongside other illegals. Neighbors say that the “family” was believed to be without water and electricity and was fed by concerned neighbors. What’s disturbing about this story is the lack of legal barriers to this behavior. In addition to housing, Monroy had no problem obtaining a smartphone and somehow managed to find money to buy food. So, let’s get to the heart of my point. This state has an ample amount of citizens and has succeeded in creating an $18 billion debt burden for them; a growing population of poor and has an education system that barely works for those who speak English. So why would we be so hospitable to illegals who bring with them problems that make ours look like “Happy Days”? Why not let the world know, legally, that until we can solve our citizen’s problems it’s a sure bet we can’t solve theirs? [private FP-Monthly|FP-Yearly|FP-Yearly-WLK|FP-Yearly-So76]
