Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – “So the parents of this woman who wrote [ HBO GIRLS ] this and apparently filmed it and performed it were incapable of disapproval and instead offered their support and assistance on pulling off the unthinkable so it could go off without a hitch and be filmed and then be shown on HBO.  For what purpose does this occur?  There is no difference or little difference between this as an atrocious public act — [mocking] “Mike, it’s on private . . .”  Do you live in 2015, sir or madam?  There is nothing private.  It’ll take one person to get ahold of it, turn it into a YouBoob or Vimeo video and bammo.  If you want it, the world will be able to see it.  The world will worship and revel in this.”  Check out today’s transcript AND Clip of The Day for the rest….

PLEASE READ: An Appeal From Mike Church: This Site Needs Your Support

Mike:  So then I stumble upon — I don’t even know how I found this story yesterday but I did.  I must warn you, I will do all that I can do to not use directly-salacious language to describe what it is that is about to be described to you and has been very celebrated and very popular and widely distributed in magazines and social media and websites in the United States, and will be broadcast on television.  Again, since there is no such thing as a perversion any longer and no one knows what perversity is, this just doesn’t seem like it’s perverse now.  It’s entertainment.

You want to talk about a loss of innocence, you can’t say anything about the loss of innocence unless… [private |FP-Monthly|FP-Yearly|FP-Yearly-WLK|FP-Yearly-So76|Founding Brother|Founding Father|FP-Lifetime]

you’re going to say something about the loss of modesty.  If you’re going to talk about the loss of modesty, what is it that precedes modesty?  What precedes all virtue?  Humility.  This is as shocking as anything you will hear.  Again, because I know many of you are driving the kids to school, I will do all that I can do — you’ll have to use your fertile imaginations to fill in the gaps.  Since we live in a perverse society, I don’t think you’re going to have any problem figuring out what’s going on here.

The New Yorker magazine, a very large publication, operates as doing business of a very large media company, has a spinoff.  It’s called The Vulture.  No, don’t go there.  I went there for you.  You don’t have to go there.  Avoid the near occasion of sin if you can.  It’s already been done.  You don’t have to go there.  If you went there yesterday, you would have found this.  How many of you are familiar with or have seen the television show FROM  HBO Girls?  Is this on your TiVo viewing list, Paul?

Paul:  I watch it religiously, Mike.

Mike:  Are you being facetious?

Paul:  I haven’t had HBO in years, and if I did, I wouldn’t have any motivation to watch Girls.

Mike:  I think it’s on HBO.  Is it an HBO show?  It doesn’t really say.

Paul:  Yeah, it’s an HBO show.

Mike:  I thought it was.  Who is Home Box Office?  They used to be owned by Time Warner.  I think they’re still owned by Time Warner.  It’s the oldest of pay televisions services, HBO, Skinemax (Cinemax).  People think that’s a joke.  What’s so funny about that?  Apparently the season premiere of this wretched show called Girls is about to occur.  [mocking] “Mike, what’s the big deal?  It’s in the fourth season.  Either get to the point or get to bashing Obama.”  Renata Sellitti wishes to inform us, “The Girls Cast and Brian Williams Discuss the Premiere’s Shocking Sex Scene.”

[reading]

Always game to push the boundaries of the portrayal of awkward sex on television, merely a few short minutes into Girlsfourth season, Lena Dunham managed to up the squirm factor by tossing in some unexpected butt play between Marnie (Allison Williams) and Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). We caught up with the cast (and Brian Williams) at the season four premiere and asked them – as delicately as we could – their thoughts on the soon-to-be-infamous sex scene.

[end reading]

Mike:  Ladies and gentlemen, it’s not bad enough that — oh, gosh, how can I describe this — an act of oral stimulation will be performed by the male cast member on the female from a posterior pose — that is as delicately and gently as I can put it, except that they actually filmed it and are going to show you and have the salacious language to go along with it.  If that’s not shocking enough and if that’s not reprehensible enough, the writer of this particular scene asked the woman who participated in it: Did you share this with your parents?  The answer:

[reading]

Allison Williams

Because of my wiring, I read it in the script and I went into total action mode. I got everyone together and I was like, “All right, Grace [in wardrobe], you and me — we’re going to come up with something so ingenious that he is going to feel comfortable.” I mean, think about where he is, right! It was our first day back of shooting and it was my birthday — everything was happening. I grabbed the makeup girl and said, “I want to smell like a cake,” so we put vanilla cream . . . [Mike: I’m not going to get into the rest of it. You don’t need to know. They just figured out a way to do this so that it could be done as safely as possible, I guess.]

How do you tell your family. Are you like, “Dad, sit this one out?”

No, also because of my wiring, I was like, “Any advice? What do you guys think in terms of what adhesive I should use?” I got some advice from my parents, because they too are veterans of the show, so their thinking has changed as well. I’d get a call from my mom and she’d be like, “Maybe if you took a thong and cut it away from the sides . . .”

[end reading]

Mike:  So the parents of this woman who wrote this and apparently filmed it and performed it were incapable of disapproval and instead offered their support and assistance on pulling off the unthinkable so it could go off without a hitch and be filmed and then be shown on HBO. The world will worship and revel in this.

I’m going to predict to you that by the time this episode has aired, you gentlemen out there, if indeed you are gentlemen, are going to find friends, you’re going to be told by friends, people that you know of just how amazingly cool this was and how you missed it.  There will be no statements of perversity.  There will be no admonitions that I cannot believe that was on television.  Instead, you’ll probably be treated to something to the effect of: I can’t wait to see what they’re going to do next.  What is left to be done?  If you’ve used your imaginations to figure out what was going on here, what is left?  What do you do for an encore? I made a joke about this once, a couple years back after a similar action by the reprehensible act known as Lady Gaga, I asked the question, and I meant it partially in jest.  I guess I shouldn’t have meant it in jest.  Maybe it was more of a prediction than a question.  I can’t even recall what act of perversity had been performed on stage.  I said: What is she going to do for an encore?  Is she going to figure out how to do one of those circus acts where the — if you’ve ever watched a circus, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, one of the acts that’s done by some of the trapeze artists and some of the high-wire acts is a member of the female crew will bite down on some sort of a mouthpiece that is suspended from the ceiling and they’ll twirl.  They can twirl down to the ground and it’s amazing.  This woman is hanging by her mouth.  It’s quite a circus act.  I theorize that Gaga might attempt this but not use her mouth, her oral cavity.  We’ve gone beyond that.  Home Box Office has gone beyond that.

There’s more on this story.  I actually did link to it.  I don’t suggest you read it.  Rod Dreher has a very provocative takedown of this particular episode.  I just have to ask the question: Where is the moral compass, conscience?  There doesn’t seem to be anything that is offensive anymore.

In my previous life, I embraced perversions like this, profanity, vulgarity and frequently with no reason than to shock; I have been crude and rude for its own sake. Now, with what I fervently believe to be the grace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, I see why these things are not only sinful but a menace that must be opposed. When in the past I would be admonished for my obscene words or behavior I find that now I am met with indignant dismissal when I renounce the rampant perversions and depravity of modern “culture”. I do not know if my audience is in disbelief, thinking that I am joking, or just in shock and experiencing cognitive dissonance. No one readily accepts being told why their leisurely activities are damning for their souls and that they ought to be concerned about it. I did not immediately accept that truth when it became evident to me. This does not dissuade me from trying or praying.
