Mike:  Bear in mind for just a moment and just consider: Why would people be so quick to assign the blame here, and then by proxy assign that blame to a country that has a flag and has a government?  What would be the benefit of the rush to judgment?  Well, it will definitely begin a conflict that will not easily be resolved.  The people that are looking out for and jonesing up for another military conflict anywhere in the world, somewhere, anywhere, they don’t really care where it is, are going to get an awful lot of mileage out of that.  All of your paid talking heads that are paid to gin up war and to talk about ginning up war are now all going to earn their money today.  Then we can spend the rest of our weekend wondering whether or not World War III was just begun.  It’s good for business, in other words.  It’s great for business when it comes to news.  If we can actually get this war going, it’ll be great for the people that make the kind of armaments that shot the plane down to start with.  It will be great for the politicians that love to talk about starting wars.  Can’t find much time to talk about peace, but they love to talk about starting wars.  They love to talk about blaming people.  They love to talk about blaming people with the intention: If we can assess the blame to them, then we can go to war with them.  We can say: It’s a hostile country, a hostile actor.  We’re going to have to intervene here.  It basically gives the great machine of war of the world something to do.  Boy, are they busy doing it!  It’s sad really.

I’ll go out on a limb and say the answer to the question is that she doesn’t know anything more or much more than you or I know.  But we have a book to sell and a presidential campaign to field.  I’ve got to show that I’m not going to take any crap from some vodka-swilling, shirtless-horse-riding Russian premier named Putin, even though Putin probably has absolutely nothing to do with this.

Do you have the clip specifically — I don’t want any of the other ones — of Mrs. Clinton being asked by Charlie Rose — bear in mind, Hillary knows about as much as you and I know.  If she does know anything more than you and I know, then I would like to know under what law and under whose direction is that kind of information being funneled to what amounts to a private, civilian citizen?  She is no longer the secretary of state.  She doesn’t hold any title of nobility.  She has no more power to do anything about this or anything else than you or I do.  Why would she have any more information than you would have or I would have?  President Clinton is not going back to the oval office and into the war room to help Obama game plan an invasion of Russia.  So why would Mrs. Clinton know anything more than the rest of us know when she walked onto that set to be interviewed by Charlie Rose?  I’ll go out on a limb and say the answer to the question is that she doesn’t know anything more or much more than you or I know.  But we have a book to sell and a presidential campaign to field.  I’ve got to show that I’m not going to take any crap from some vodka-swilling, shirtless-horse-riding Russian premier named Putin, even though Putin probably has absolutely nothing to do with this.  Now, that’s just speculation.  I don’t know.  Right now we don’t know that he does either.  It would be better, in other words, to be as the British secretary of state was and just say: Dude, we don’t know.  We’ve got to have an investigation before we start blaming people and shooting and starting wars.  That’s what the British equivalent of our secretary of state said.  What did the former secretary of state tell Charlie Rose?

Charlie Rose: Let me begin though with the news of this day —

Hillary Clinton: Yes.

Rose: — of planes shot down over Eastern Ukraine. What questions would you be asking at this moment?

Clinton: Well, the questions I’d be asking is, number one, who could have shot it down? Who had the equipment? It’s obviously an anti-aircraft missile. Who could have had the expertise to do that? Because commercial airlines are big targets, but by the time they got over that part of Ukraine, they should have been high, so it takes some, you know, some planning. And the Ukrainian government has been quick to blame it on terrorists, which is, you know, their name for the Russian insurgents. And there does seem to be some growing awareness that it probably had to be Russian insurgents. Now, how we determine that will require some forensics, but then if there is evidence pointing in that direction, the equipment had to have come from Russia. What more the Russians may or may not have done, we don’t know. I read as I was walking in today to talk with you, the Russian stock market has dropped. There is a great deal of concern that not only was a civilian plane shot down, but what this means about the continuing conflict in eastern Ukraine and the role that Russia is planning.

Mike:  Stop this madness.  She had a chance to be just diplomatic.  You know, Charlie, we don’t know.  We don’t know.  There’s got to be an investigation.  But she had to let it out there.  She had to go big and prove that she’s got a bigger swinging set than any other guy on that set.  [mocking] “Well, I’ll tell you what’s going on here, buddy.”  This is absolutely, totally unacceptable behavior.  This is why people fear Mrs. Clinton getting anywhere near any rein of power, because of careless, reckless, premeditated acts of irresponsibility like that.  She knew that that question was coming her way.  She knew exactly what she was going to say.  She even said I looked it up before I came on here.  You or I could have said the exact same thing.  We can sit out here and make all manner of conjecture.  We can say: Putin had to do it, the Russians had to do it.  Okay, fine.  You and I don’t have the force or seemingly have the force of international law.  Besides the fact, as I pointed out, Charlie, you can ask her the question, but why are you asking it in that capacity?  John “Rambo” Kerry is currently the Secretary of State.  Mrs. Clinton hasn’t announced a candidacy to do anything other than apply to be a candidate to go on book tours.  So what does it matter?  But it does matter, yes, it does matter, because the great American machine of war has to have someone to drive it.  Guess who wants to audition for the job?

So how do you feel then about being under — those of you that think that President Obama — as a matter of fact, I would go out on a limb and say that Mrs. Clinton sounded positively Dick Cheney-ish there.  She sounded very American exceptional there.  [mocking] “We’re gonna find out.  If we trace it back to the Russians….”  Okay.  Trace it back to the Russians what?  You’re going to do what?  Reckless, careless, irresponsible.  Don’t let that woman anywhere near an office of power or rue the frickin’ day.  [mocking] “Come on, Mike, you’re being hard on her.  You just don’t like it because it’s Hillary.”

Let me read to you again the statement from the actual secretary of state of the United Kingdom.  Would you like to hear it again?  Philip Hammond, “A UN-led investigation into the facts is in order.  We are deeply shocked by this incident.  As of yet, we do not have any definitive information about how this incident occurred and I don’t want to speculate at this stage.  This must be resolved by an international investigation.  We believe the United Nations, particularly the United Nations Civil Aviation Organization is the right body to lead that investigation.  We are prepared to make Air Accident Investigation Branch assets and specialists available to aid such an investigation.”  So that’s how an actual secretary of state, not trying to start World War III, answers the question.  You have been going through the digital media files.  What else should we play to flesh this story out, young Eric?

Eric:  We could play Biden practicing being president and having a tragedy occur.

Mike:  Let’s play Vice President Joey Biden practicing to be — you mean in other words he’s in the bullpen, right?  He’s warming up?

Eric:  Yeah, he’s practicing to be president when there’s a crisis.  He has all the normal formulas of what we’re going to do, I’ve spoken with people on the ground, my national security team, blah, blah.

Mike:  Let’s see if Joey Biden goes World War III during this clip.  Roll it.

Vice President Joe Biden: I want to begin by explaining very briefly why I’m late. I have been engaged with our national security team and on the phone with President Poroshenko of Ukraine and in dealing with a very tragic circumstance that you’ve probably already heard about, which is that an aircraft, a Malaysian aircraft heading from Western Europe to Kuala Lumpur as it crossed or was near the border of Ukraine and Russia, apparently — I say apparently because I don’t have the actual — we don’t have all the detail yet. I want to be sure of what I say — apparently have been shot down, shot down, not an accident, blown out of the sky. We’ve seen reports that there may have been American citizens on board, and, obviously, that’s our first concern. We’re now working every minute to try to confirm those reports as I speak. This is truly a grave situation. Nearly 300 souls have been lost. Families need consolation and our prayers. There are many questions that need to be answered, and we’ll get those answers, and we will take the next steps accordingly. We are in touch with the Ukrainian government. As I said, I was on the phone for the better part of a half an hour with President Poroshenko. I’ve spoken with our president. Excuse me, I’ve been in contact with our president as well as our national security team. I offered president Poroshenko the help of our expertise, our National Transportation and Safety group and other experts in the community. He accepted that help and they will be on their way rapidly to see if we can get to the bottom of this. And I know you join me in sharing our thoughts and prayers with the families of all the passengers wherever they call home. It’s important we get to the bottom of this sooner or later because the possible repercussions that can flow from this beyond the tragic loss of life.

Mike:  Wow.  He didn’t blame Russian separatists, didn’t blame Vladimir Putin, didn’t pin the missile having been manufactured in Stalingrad or wherever, made none of the childish, irresponsible accusations or intimations that Mrs. Clinton did.  You know, if I’m a democrat, I think I’m voting Joey Biden in the early nominating process here for the Democratic nomination.  He sounds far more peaceful and diplomatic than Mrs. Clinton will ever be.
