mordorMandeville, LA – Mike Church‘s daily Pile of Prep, bringing you the latest from a world gone mad. We all know that Mordor on the Potomac is possessed with the most evil assortment of corrupt leaders ever assembled but it is equally true that Rome is dealing with similar corruption as Pope Pius X pointed out way back in 1907. Read along with Mike’s historical viewpoint to help make sense of it all plus other [r]epublican stories used to perform the Mike Church Show on Sirius/XM Patriot channel 125. “[St Thomas] He points out, for example, that it is essential to avoid the aversion which is engen- dered by overfamiliarity and constant repetition of the same things. This does not imply that the teacher should make the subject “interesting” by hook or crook, in order to facilitate the learner’s task. On the contrary, it means this: all knowledge of any depth, not only philosophizing, begins with amazement. If that is true, then everything depends upon leading the learner to recognize the amazing qualities, the mirandam, the “novelty” of the subject under discussion. If the teacher succeeds in doing this, he has done something more important than and quite different from making knowledge entertaining and interesting. He has, rather, put the learner on the road to genuine questioning. And it is genuine questioning that inspires all true learning.” – Josef Pieter, An Introduction to St Thomas Aquinas

LISTEN and READ  Mike’s Commentary on Common Core and learn how St Thomas Aquinas proposed we deal with educating the young and inquisitive

Remember back in the good ol’ days when liberals would accuse “conservatives” of conducting “witch hunts” to ferret out demonstrable political opponents in the Clinton Administration? We were told this was “un-American” among other indignations. I wonder what the Clintonistas of the ’90’s would say about the “priest-hunts” being organized by the city of Houston as it goes in search of the clergy who may be delivering “anti-gay” sermons and is therefore on Houston’s Most Wanted

Dave Weigel follows Senator Rand Paul around the Carolinas for two days of stumping for GOP candidates and talking foreign policy. To say that Paul’s foreign policy message has matured is an understatement but to those who claim he has “sold out” to the war-hawks, it sounds like that deal may not have gone through. On a side-note, it is disturbing to read the public’s take on our war policy and note that it is devoid of nearly any remorse other than the 20/20-hindsight variety “it didn’t work out so well”. There’s nothing in the copious quotes from the hoi polloi that indicate the moral errors of the policy, meaning, the sheople still like their war. SAD…

Srdja Trifkovic breaks down what will go down as the dumbest of all our dumb wars, the one that we are told we’re not fighting in Syria or Iraq. Pay close attention to the rundown of previous acts of imbecility and ignorance nay defiance of Just War Theory

My long running jokes about our bellicosity extending all the way to the Ice World of Hoth may not have been far off as the Top Secret X37B (Space Modulator!) lands at Edwards Air base after a two years long mission, no one knows anything about. Too bad Michael Creighton isn’t around to see his “Andromeda Strain” come to life

The U.S. is now blowing up trucks, tanks and military hardware purchased by Americans and left in Iraq. If you are still NOT a believer in the MIC as the primary driver behind our war-policy, stories like this one should begin the defrost cycle.

Buchanan: Columbus Day passes without a nod anymore because people now reject the right of European Christians to colonize people of  lesser means. This feeling sure hasn’t taken hold in our foreign policy despite the * that we no longer Evangelize Christ to the “indigent” but instead choose to conquer them by A. bombs or B. bombs followed by purple stained fingers and “democracy” or C. bombs, followed by dictators chosen by us because we educated them. Hmmmm, there’s a common word in those choices, I wonder what it might be?

TIC: The story of Alexander Solzhenitsyn is one that all Christians and for that matter all those who fear the tyranny of a Central Government unrestrained by any authority other than its own, like the Soviet Union, he suffered under

Lauren Hill just wants to play NCAA basketball. Lauren Hill is 19 and has DPG an inoperable 100% fatal brain cancer. Lauren Hill is not moving to Oregon to end it all with Brittany Maynard, Lauren is playing and fighting and loving til the very end. Pray for a miracle for this amazing young lady and pray for her soul to be Sanctified as well

Still think that the EBOLA virus, multiplying its USA infection rate is of no concern and that our Federal CDC overlords have the matter completely in hand? Read this and you won’t think like that any longer

The Iowan sheople have the chance to send a message to Mordor that the EPA and its clones are not needed because the States can and SHOULD protect their own natural resources. so says Joni Ernst, Senate candidate who refuses to be guilt-tripped into expensive, ineffective, unconstitutional tree-hugging

Stop the Syrian “war” before it gets worse and becomes the grounds for WWIII

The news being released from the Vatican’s “Synod On the Family” is disturbing. In Lucifer’s final act of conquest it appears that his agents working inside Holy Mother Church, may succeed in ushering all the corrupt sinfulness of the modern world into Church teaching. That’s a worst case scenario but the best case is not much better, granting “pastoral exemptions” to Cardinal Dolan’s favorite homosexual partners and the 5 ex-wife having radio & TV “conservative” types. This should NOT alter the faithful and studious devotion to dogma and the teachings of Christ, if anything, we have to double our prayer and efforts now

Meanwhile, the Polish Bishop who is from the Order that gave the world Pope John Paul II has denounced this heresy in motion, calling it what it is: unacceptable

Father Longenecker wonders what is so difficult to understand about the Church’s teachings on cohabitation and marriage, contraception and homosexuality?

For a paragraph by paragraph breakdown on the clauses in the Synod press release dealing with homosexuality and the multi-divorced, St Louis’ blog has the take-down

One Peter Five asks the questions that need asking about the Synod but also councils patience and reverence in the face of despair

The governor of CT is pursuing an all out assault on home schooling, masked as a “safety precaution”. If there is one thing the secular, the State is God crowd despises it is home-schooling and home-schooling parents. This is because those parents are defying the authority wielded by the public school monopoly

John Locke is worshipped by nearly all libertarians and most conservatives, mainly because he revolted against “the divine right of kings” unleashing the torrent of radical autonomy we are possessed of today that is called “the enlightenment”. Bruce Frohnne, pace Chris Ferrara, dissents at TIC. “As with much of Locke’s writing on toleration, his practical point is worth endorsing. True conversion does not take place at the point of a knife. Still, to argue that the experience of going to church, particularly with one’s family and neighbors, will not open one’s mind and soul to the religious message being promoted goes against common sense. To dismiss tradition, whether intellectually or as a source of religious habits, is to deny the very nature of reality and the human purpose. It also is to undermine the bases of religion. As with much of Locke’s writing on toleration, his practical point is worth endorsing. True conversion does not take place at the point of a knife. What happens when a “Christian College” decides to defend its policy against homosexuality on ITS campus? It gets a letter from the accreditation board basically giving the school ONE year to can its beliefs or lose access to federal student loans, certified test scores and diplomas etc. BUT don’t worry, Christianity and homosexual bullies can exist side by side and happily too (right, get in line for that oceanfront property in Kansas I’m selling). H/T Rod Dreher

The dual threat to humanity, McCain and Graham, write an Op-Ed to the WSJ begging Americans to give them a blank check to take out Syria’s Assad. Folks, this was the goal all along of the military campaign, ginned up against “ISIS” as that scenario now looks like the next step for Obama and the latest “regime change” operation this country has waged in the Middle East. And we have the sovereign “right” to do this because why?

Speaking of Lindsay Graham, he is the best thing the Dumbocrats have going for them in 2016 and beyond

So you still think that being cool and all inclusive by accepting “gay marriage” as something previous generations mistakenly, check it, SHAMEFULLY, opposed, doesn’t lead to other moral taboos being laid waste to? Explain this NY Times headline then. Pedophilia: A Disorder, Not a Crime”

This map of NFL fan allegiance shows that there ARE regional alliances (say it FEDERATIONS!) possible

My VIDEO/AUDIO commentary on the St Charles Parish FEMALE teachers who had group sex with a 16 year old student

Bacevich: Even if (and that is a very BIG IF) the “war” that isn’t a war against ISIS is successful all it does is guarantee campaign number 15 (this is 14) and 15 guarantees 16 et cetera

SECESSION: Shhhh, don’t tell the experts but now Catalonians want the world (and Spain) to recognize their independence and if that requires a ballot initiative then so be it

Kevin Gutzman offers two cheers for the Obama administration and their elimination of “so help me God” in military oaths

I try and be as accommodating and gentle as I can when talking with Novus Ordo Catholics and Protestant Christians about matters of faith and the powder keg issue of Sola Sciptura – by scripture alone. One Peter Five gives a thought provoking overview of the subject

Spyin’ Eyes: We can thank Ronald Reagan’s EO 12333 for the current evil that is the NSA’s ubiquitous “right” to spy on any American soul conducting business provided the NSA creeps “suspect” the business MAY involve foreigners

DeceptiCONNED: Meanwhile, the DeceptiCON website Weekly Standard’s editor, tweets out that if you disagree with Ted Cruz you are a member of ISIS

Did Dear Leader MaObama plan his “strategy” based on 10k ISIS of 30k ISIS. What if there is 60k when our 485 “non-booted-non-combat” troops arrive? Will we double the order and send 1k? So the mission is but 1 day old and it has already doubled in size

When the price of bacon goes parabolic, brought on by conditions the Federal Leviathan says cannot exist so long as they are on the job, it may get the attention of the apathetic hoi polloi
