Dear Mike: You Are a Demeaning, Illiterate, Proselytizing, Catholic Dolt

todaySeptember 11, 2012 7

Background

Mr. Church,

1. “You people” is indeed demeaning.  But please continue.  It is your show.

2. Matriculate.  People do not matriculate to the city.  They move to the city.

3. Prurient?  Wanton desires.

4. What is insensitive?  Responding to a caller who mentioned he is paying $1,500 a month for his family insurance?  Laughing and wishing him the best of luck.  It is your show.

5. How about using your critical thinking skills to examine church history?  The Catholic Church is not the first or the only Church.  How about using those thinking skills to examine Catholic dogma?  If you were to do so, you would find that the Church established in the first century looks nothing like the Catholic Church of today or in history.

6.  I am sorry to hear that flip flops represents a disdain for the self.  I am sure if Jesus were to come around wearing sandals that you would bitch about them.  No Christian gentleman would wear sandals in public!

Phil

Mike Church responds:

Dear Phil,

Comments 1-6 do not reflect effusively on the person who sent them, operating under the pretense of mannered/cultured/linguistic superiority he claims to criticize.

1. Explain why “you people” is demeaning. It carries no insult, no epithet, implies no class or designation other than “you” and “people”. Please enlighten all of us on the team on what is preferred as an alternative sobriquet.

2. Nice. Listen to (or read transcripts of) Daniel Webster for 3 hours and I wonder how many misplaced/misused words you might find? I am not arrogant enough to imply or state “perfection” in my elocution, the envious do that on my behalf, lucky me!

3. See #2 although I suspect I used prurient in a manner proper to its elucidation. Perhaps we can study the etymology of the word and find a more appropriate classical usage that would keep you digital pen in its particular sheath.

4. Yes, that gentleman thanks you for defending his damaged ego on his behalf. What was the “proper” response, Mr. H. ? Tears? A fund raising drive to make up the difference? What should be his rate then so I would know how much I and Dr. Phil are to raise to close the deficit?

5. Please be specific and quote me for me when was ever said that the Church of today is a carbon copy of the 1st century Church? I merely stated that, from Christ, it was and is the first Church. Is this historical fact in dispute here Mr Holley? I am well aware that the history of the Church is rife with imperfections, then again so is Man. Unless your name is Phillip Holley, from behind glass walls throwing stones of infallibility.

6. Were “sandals” proper dress at the time? You really have a problem with someone encouraging the men who are to lead and serve as examples for the next generation to dress the part of proper gentlemen? Really? I challenge you to compose a 500 word tome on the subject and I shall contribute 500 as well, we shall publish them together and let an excited audience decide their preference although admission will be closed by the following sign, with apologies to Kenny Chesney; “No shoes, no shirt, no entrance.”

This response along with your original post will be published at mike church.com, I will look forward to your continued non-filiopiety there.

Anon,

Mike Church

When do the words stop…and a true revolution begin…I love Church..Beck and even Mark [sic~Editor] Lavien…but we have been talking for years…a bloodless revolution will never happen….i know we are not allowed to say it in this political climate but until we feel pain …i mean real pain…NOTHING will change….nobody wants to sacrifice….its ok as long as its the other guy..but as soon as its me…oh no..you cant take that from me..”I earned it”..well BS…I for one will fight and hopefully live to see America the way it was…but I think it is a pipe dream….we are a fat lazy country that thinks only about ourselves and to hell with the future…with liberty. Choose your chains..left or right…its all the same in the end…dont call me when they hang heavy around your neck. God bless america….and keep up the fight..even if it is only words.

I have very high standards that must be met before one can be called my friend. Mike Church IS MY FRIEND!!!! As an atheist with rational self intrest as my moral guide, I find Mike to be of the highest moral standards, even as we differ on where our morals come from.
If you wish to bash Mike, start by twisting his words or putting words in his mouth, it then becomes easy to refute “his” logic. The fact that the rest of us will pick on your style of lies shouldn’t bother you, as you take comfort in thinking you have bested him. In your world, you are the champ! Poor Mike, he doesn’t stand a chance against you, when you are the the Ref. and stand in the other corner at the same time.

    Mike,
This is a STRANGE coincidence! I have been accused this very day of proselytizing, by my flesh and blood sister, in the words of my father. I just spent over 2 hours discussing or debating with my father this and other things that followed. I feel good about the frank and intellectually honest discourse but I do not know if any positive thing will be bourne of it.

One word comes to mind, context. Not to defend or condemn either Mike or Phil. Think about it. I know Mike does as often as a human can be expected to. I suspect Phil does as well. Thus the kerfuffle.

Kerfuffle, a good thing to stir one’s thoughts.

Man if I had a nickel for everytime some ‘genius’ said the Church wasn’t the first established by Christ nor the first I’d be rich on nickels (depending on value of them today haha).
If this guy who wrote you ever comes on here this is for him

    Sir, tolle lege tolle lege!!!
Get the following historical books please:
    1) Four Witnesses – the stories of 4 martyrs that were executed for the faith in the first 100 yrs of the Church. Written by a former protestant who thought like you then researched his way into the One True Faith. As John Henry Cardinal Newman, who hated the Church before his conversion & went to bring out the Church as a fraud he converted in the middle of his research, coined the phrase “to be deep in history is to CEASE being protestant”.

    2) Surprised by Truth – there are many volumes of this one but it is all about former protestant minister conversion stories on how they learned their way was wrong & the 2000yr old Church was the True Church established by Christ & the keys handed to St Peter. Here’s more on this http://youtu.be/PdbefXuvPoQ by another convert, Steve Ray, who tried to prove the faith wrong & (again) came home.

    3) Steve Ray’s book “Crossing the Tiber’ tons of references & footnotes in this. Again from anti Catholic to an apologist for the faith.

    4) Anything by Dr Peter Kreeft, professor at Boston College who has a ton of youtube videos online & 60+ books. Shockingly enough he is a convert as well. From Calvinism.

There are tons more but point is for a person to challenge the authenticity of the Church & claim She is false is either a liar or an idiot. They either do not know history or they are in fact lying.

Also, to bash Mr Church on dressing nice to Mass is insane. People in all time periods had a certain dress. Wearing sandals in the desert & trying to compare that to Rainbow’s today is insane at best. Would you wear sandals to a wedding? Not these bogus ones on the beach but to a beautiful wedding in a Church (where they should all be)? Doubt you would.

Why is there a picture of Bill Maher? I was expecting an argument with him and it turns out it’s just some yahoo named Phil. Mr. Church, I agree with you almost entirely and you and Beck are now my favorite pundits. I started my education in 2006 with Limbaugh and Hannity. Limbaugh is still a good news anchorman, but Hannity is a weakling with some principles, but for the most part he tries to moderate when he should be destroying the opposition like yourself. Levin is fun (I know your history), but the wife can’t stand him so we don’t really listen. I got XM in Jan of 09 and wouldn’t give up you or Wilkow for the world. The $1500 per month is sad, but agreed, you can’t do anything for the man. His choices have led him to where he is in life and if he can’t afford $1500 per month, that’s his problem.
