Humility-of-Heart-Paperback-FRONTMandeville, LA  – A young woman wrote to me seeking answers to her career concerns dealing with radical feminism (Marxist, Sodomite vampires!) including proud tales of pro-abortion advice among her colleagues. I relay my answer to her in the hope that it may be useful to others.

Dear M———-,
I’m not qualified to answer your question in any secular sense as I bear not the requisite degrees and “doctorates” necessary to the task. You have also asked a secular question that has no secular answer other than the error circulating among your “feminist” co-workers. Acting as a Catholic gentleman however I focus on your concluding sentence:

How can I remain true to my truths in a line of work where secular-progressive untruths are preached everyday?

What is “truth” or more specifically what truth is “The Truth”? There is only 1 Truth that we know of and we can learn of it when Pilate asked Christ:

Pilate therefore said to him: Art thou a king then? Jesus answered: Thou sayest that I am a king. For this was I born, and for this came I into the world; that I should give testimony to the truth. Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice. [38]

You are describing what people in the modern age do every day: create their own truth and I fear, you may be in that number. In answering your query, start here:

[33] Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you. [34] Be not therefore solicitous for tomorrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.

From here it will become apparent that “social work” should be done like any other work i.e. seeking Truth. You could also pursue Charity work, the True form of “social work” and in doing so find most other colleagues in agreement with your views viz join an Order of Caremlites or Dominicans. Short of that when you ask if you are part of the problem? I answer: No, because you have humbly asked the question. If you live your life and perform your work in accordance with The Truth in defiance to what men (and women) foolishly believe is “true” then this is a vocation on behalf of The Truth and though you will suffer persecution, your reward will be Ultimate. As St Luke tells us:

[11] And there shall be great earthquakes in divers places, and pestilences, and famines, and terrors from heaven; and there shall be great signs. [12] But before all these things, they will lay their hands upon you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and into prisons, dragging you before kings and governors, for my name’ s sake. [13] And it shall happen unto you for a testimony. [14] Lay it up therefore into your hearts, not to meditate before how you shall answer: [15] For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to resist and gainsay.

Read the story of St Dominic in his struggle against the heretics of his day, it is very similar to yours. Dominic lived among the most despicable heretics and deniers of the Truth in HISTORY! From his biography we can be inspired to work among those who practice evil and deny Truth:

“It is not in this fashion that we ought to meet them, but we should rather strive to win them over by our humility and virtuous example, than by mere show and display or by contentious words: and since the present meeting is not without its fears, let us arm ourselves with humility and go thither barefooted.”

I pray this helps you find a course to continue pursuing your work.

Pax Domini tecum,

Mike Church

The Original letter sent to me:

Hi Mike-

I am a 26 year old conservative female and I listen to your radio show every morning as I drive to my job in social work. I am writing to you in what feels like an existential quarter life crisis.

Growing up, I was taught the value of hard work and pursuit of the truth. I am the first college graduate of my family and I am en route to becoming a licensed psychologist. I have dedicated my life to helping at-risk teenagers adjust to adulthood and overcome childhood traumas. I realize that I have been blessed in life and I find meaning in helping those less fortunate, as my christian upbringing has taught me.

In my experiences, the world of social work is very “progressive.” I spend many days at diversity trainings brainstorming ways to offend less people and better accommodate “new americans.” My coworkers are pro-amnesty obama loving feminists who frequently discuss how all of America’s problems will be solved by electing Bernie. All counseling sessions are billed to medicare and aim to obtain as many federal resources per mental health client as possible. I heard a story last week from a coworker gloating that she convinced a confused young lady to seek an abortion at Planned Parenthood. Needless to say I often feel exhausted and conflicted.

I write to you now wondering if I am a solution or part of the problem. Is it possible to follow what I know as truth in an environment that feeds the problem? I whole heartedly believe that we need more personal responsibility in this country and less people playing victim and looking for reasons to be offended. I teach this to the youth I work with everyday. Empowerment can beat adversity.

How can I remain true to my truths in a line of work where secular-progressive untruths are preached everyday?

Thanks for your time.
