Louisiana is the most religious state in the country, and right behind Louisiana are eight old confederate states.  The voters of Louisiana elected Jeff Landry to be the states next governor.  The citizens of the state knows he fought against Edwards and Biden, which is why they elected him.  They know he will stand up for them and for their beliefs.
